Today we have to be honest, there’s not much to celebrate. We are not independent, we are not free. We are not being taught Nigerian history without European influence (our oppressors), our government has joined colonizers to torment us, this nation whose original name is not even Nigeria nor our continent originally known as Africa is still bound and visibly under imperial control... �
Yet we must carry on in hopes for a better future and my long last dream is that we put these hopes into practice and unite for our good.

So today for our celebration, great Alkebu-Lan nation, I have only one question: When will change come?

While that is yet to be said and it will take a united movement to birth that. This I know, a great place to start from that is more powerful than we realized is the power of WORDS. Indeed every word you speak is casting a spell over your life whether you are aware or not.

For those who have not laughed and walked away by now, let's start with our first solution - Learn Your History. One solution is to educate and organize ourselves.

For those who want to participate for 2K giveaway (limits will apply), for this year's giveaways we are asking for 3 things.

1 - Learn and share a fact about 'Nigeria' before British imperialism that you did not know. (Hint: The More Ancient the History the better) or any invention or record set by a Nigerian

2 - Based on that new information you found, speak about the hope/solutions for your nation, no matter how hard it may appear.

3 - Tag at least 20 on that post in the comments and share between 7pm and 8pm Oct 1 - Oct 3, 2023.

If you think of giving up, remember the story of Francis Ngannou.

At age 10, he work in a sand mine in Cameroon.

He took a 14-month long trip from the Sahara Desert to Europe. He was turned back 12 times.

He was arrested in Spain for 2 months, after crossing the ocean.

He was homeless in Paris.

Today, he's one of the greatest fighter ever in UFC.

Never stop even if you fail.

DO YOU KNOW?

St. Valentine wasn't just one person.

You may already know that Valentine's Day was named after its patron saint, St. Valentine — but there's actually some confusion surrounding which St. Valentine the holiday technically honors. According to History.com, there are at least two men named Valentine that could've inspired the holiday, including one Valentine who was a priest in third century Rome. As the story goes, this Valentine defied Emperor Claudius II's ban on marriage (he thought it distracted young soldiers), illegally marrying couples in the spirit of love until he was caught and sentenced to death.

Another legend suggests that Valentine was killed for attempting to help Christians escape prison in Rome, and that he actually sent the first "valentine" message himself while imprisoned, writing a letter signed "From your Valentine."
