The fish at the market is getting more expensive.
The reason for this is because the west African ocean is being emptied.
By illegal industrial fishing fleets that are taking more than the sea can replace.
Local fisherman who have worked the same waters for generation are coming back with less every year.
When fish population collapse, the market price climbs and the people who can least afford it feel it first.
Today is World Ocean Day. And we are all being called to reimagine our relationship with the ocean as something that feeds us, employs us and keeps our climate stable.
This is your ocean too.
