Igando, Lagos – March 6, 2025
In a bid to promote menstrual and physical hygiene among young girls, the New Voices of Lions Clubs International, District 404B4 Nigeria, organized a service activity tagged “Pad-a-Girl” at the District Secretariat in Igando. The initiative saw about 150 girls receive free sanitary pads after an insightful session on menstrual and personal hygiene.
The event featured two seasoned guest lecturers, Lion Modupe Olaoye, a retired Chief Nursing Officer, and Lion Olabisi Oshodi-Ali, a Registered Nurse Midwife and Counselor. They enlightened the participants on the female reproductive system and emphasized the importance of maintaining proper hygiene for overall well-being.
Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of the District Governor, Lion Taiwo Fatoki, the First Vice District Governor, Lion Pharm. Debo Afolayan, commended the New Voices Nominees for their innovative approach to community service. He also introduced Lions Quest, a global program aimed at empowering young people with life skills.
Adding their voices to the discourse, Past District Governor Kema Ashibogwu and Second Vice District Governor Patience Okoosi-Ngene encouraged the students to share the knowledge gained with their peers who could not attend.
A notable highlight of the event was the call for inclusivity, as a school owner and educationist advised that similar attention should be given to the boy child, ensuring holistic youth development.
