π―οΈ GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN π―οΈ
CONDOLENCE MESSAGE ON THE PASSING OF A CULTURAL ICON.
It is with a deeply heavy heart that the Urhobo World United Union (UWUU), Lagos Zone, mourns the passing of our beloved music maestro β Johnson Osetejevwore Adjan β a titan of Urhobo music, a proud custodian of our culture, and a tireless ambassador of Urhobo heritage to the world.
Through his extraordinary gift, Johnson gave our people a universal voice. His melodies carried the heartbeat of Urhobo tradition across borders and generations, making the world stop, listen, and celebrate the richness of who we are as a people.
The vacuum his departure has created is immeasurable. His shoes are too big, too sacred, and too deeply imprinted for any single soul to fill. We do not just mourn a man β we mourn a movement.
Yet even in grief, we are called to action. The Urhobo nation must now rise to ensure that such towering talents never again depart without leaving behind structured legacies. We must:
Establish Cultural Mentorship Programmes to transfer knowledge from masters to emerging talents.
Create an Urhobo Music & Arts Archive β preserving our icons' works for generations unborn.
Institute the Johnson Osetejevwore Adjan Music Legacy Award β annually celebrating young Urhobo artists who carry the torch forward.
Engage our youths early in authentic Urhobo music, dance, and oral traditions.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones, and all whose lives he touched through his timeless music.
Rest well, Maestro. Your songs shall never die.
Akpokedefa Iyeeee!
