Following the successful conclusion of the Africa Social Impact Summit (ASIS) 2026, Sterling One Foundation paid a courtesy visit to Arash Irantalab, Counsellor and Head of Cooperation, Canada in Nigeria, to reflect on the summit’s outcomes and explore the next phase of collaboration.

Our discussions focused on opportunities to advance gender impact investing and trade finance—two critical areas with the potential to unlock inclusive economic growth and expand opportunities for women and underserved communities.

We are encouraged by the openness of the Cooperation – Canada in Nigeria office to collaborate with Sterling One Foundation and other partners in delivering meaningful, sustainable impact for the Nigerian people.

ASIS is more than a convening—it is a platform that catalyses partnerships, drives action, and transforms dialogue into measurable progress.

What does it take to build an Africa that can feed itself, even in the face of crisis?

Empowering women begins with creating opportunities to learn, earn, and lead.

As part of our commitment to driving sustainable livelihoods, Sterling One Foundation supported a week-long Training & Capacity Development Programme, organized by UNICEF Nigeria, for 150 young women. The programme equipped participants with practical skills in plastic waste upcycling, entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, and digital cooperative integration, enabling them to transform plastic waste into marketable products such as bags, baskets, and organizers.

By investing in skills, innovation, and economic empowerment, we are helping build more resilient communities where women can thrive, create sustainable livelihoods, and drive lasting impact.

One Million Trees. Lasting Impact.

A few weeks ago, Sterling One Foundation, in collaboration with Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Sterling Bank, and Fifth Chukker Resort, commissioned the One Million Trees Planting Initiative in Kaduna, marking an important step towards restoring ecosystems and strengthening climate resilience.

More than a tree-planting campaign, this initiative is designed to empower local communities, particularly women, to drive lasting environmental and economic impact while contributing to a greener, more sustainable future.

Together, we’re planting the seeds for a greener, more resilient Nigeria.
