NACCIMA ENGAGES EBRD ON PROPOSED ABUJA GREEN BUILDING PROJECT

The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) today, Friday, 15 May 2026, held a productive engagement with the representative of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on the proposed NACCIMA Headquarters Green Building Project.

The meeting focused on advancing initiatives that could fulfil the development of the proposed Abuja NACCIMA Building as well as other developmental issues that are focused on sustainable trade, green economy, agriculture and capacity building development opportunities for members etc.

On the proposed Building, it was agreed that groundworks would be prepared by getting a reputable/experienced developer who could coordinate the different matrix componental issues in making the project a reality and a call for Request for Proposals would also be issued as part of procedures at the right time.

In attendance were the National President, Engr. Jani Ibrahim, mni, OON; the Director-General, Engr. Olusola Obadimu; Dr. Percy Chukwuka-David, former NACCIMA DDG and current Chairman of Circular/Green Economy Trade Group; Dr. Abina Praise, Senior Manager, Research and Rotimi Akin-Obagbemi, Public Relations Unit while the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development was represented by Asher Persits, Senior Banker in the Real Estate Department of the Bank with Lanre Olutimilehin, a Project Advisor/Director at Trillium Partners also in attendance.

The engagement underscores NACCIMA’s commitment to fostering environmentally sustainable infrastructure through the development of the Abuja project in addition to strengthening private sector growth for members through positive engagement with EBRD.

Bonny Chamber of Commerce Unveils “Discover Bonny” Initiative During Courtesy Visit to NACCIMA

The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) hosted the Bonny Chamber of Commerce delegation on a courtesy visit at the NACCIMA Abuja Corporate Office on 12th May 2026.

The delegation, led by Dr. Constance Nwokejiobi, FCA, President of the Bonny Chamber of Commerce, was received by the National President of NACCIMA, Engr. Jani Ibrahim, mni, OON, alongside other NACCIMA officials.

A major highlight of the engagement was the formal presentation of “Discover Bonny”; a tourism and economic development initiative launched in 2025 to position Bonny Island as a premier destination for tourism, recreation, business, and investment.

The initiative is designed to connect investors, entrepreneurs, and visitors to the vast opportunities within Bonny Island by showcasing its beaches, nature parks, hospitality offerings, cultural heritage, and emerging business ecosystem.

Discussions during the meeting also focused on strategic collaboration through the Creative Economy Trade Group, diplomatic communites, tourism promotion, private sector growth, and investment facilitation as pathways for economic transformation and regional development.

Speaking during the engagement, the NACCIMA President commended the Bonny Chamber of Commerce for championing innovative initiatives that promote local economic development and sustainable private sector participation. He further emphasized the critical role of tourism and the creative economy in Nigeria’s journey toward achieving a one-trillion-dollar economy.

AFREXIMBANK VISITS NACCIMA, INTRODUCES NEW REGIONAL LEADERSHIP FOR ANGLOPHONE WEST AFRICA- STRENGTHENING CONTINENTAL TRADE

NACCIMA hosts a high-level delegation from Afreximbank in Abuja on May 12, 2026, reinforcing a shared commitment to accelerating Africa’s trade, investment, and industrial transformation.

The delegation, led by Mr. Alain Thierry (AT) Mbongue, outgoing Regional Director for Anglophone West Africa, formally introduced Mr. Kudakwashe Matereke as the incoming Regional Director for the region. The engagement also served as a reaffirmation of the deep and enduring partnership between Afreximbank and the organized private sector in Nigeria and across West Africa.

Receiving the delegation, the National President of NACCIMA, Engr. NACCIMA PARTICIPATES AT THE GERMAN–NIGERIAN BUSINESS DAY IN LAGOS

The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) participated in the German–Nigerian Business Day held on Monday, 11th May 2026, at the EKO Hotel Skyline Terrace, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The event was graced by the Honourable Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, as the Special Guest of Honour.

Representing NACCIMA at the event were Ambassador Janet Olisa, Dr. Praise Abina, and Mr. Rotimi Obagbemi.

The German–Nigerian Business Day was hosted by Mr. Daniel Krull, German Consul General in Lagos, alongside Mr. Roosevelt Ogbonna, Managing Director/CEO of Access Bank Plc, Mr. Ikenna Mbaekwe, Director, DEG Regional Office West Africa, and Mr. Fabian Bracher, Head of German Desk at Access Bank Plc.

NACCIMA PRESIDENT ADVOCATES DIRECT FLIGHTS BETWEEN NIGERIA AND CHINA TO BOOST TRADE AND INVESTMENT

The National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Jani Ibrahim, has called for the establishment of direct flight operations between Nigeria and China to strengthen economic cooperation, improve connectivity, and facilitate seamless business engagements between both countries.

He made this appeal during the NACCIMA Business and Investment Forum held on 29th April 2026 in Guangzhou, on the sidelines of the 139th Canton Fair.

The forum brought together key Chinese investors, business executives, and members of the Nigerian delegation for strategic discussions and partnership opportunities across critical sectors of the economy.

In collaboration with the China Chamber of International Commerce, the engagement featured a successful B2B matchmaking session and culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to institutionalize the forum as an annual platform for advancing Nigeria–China economic relations.

Speaking at the event, Engr. Ibrahim commended the Chinese government’s zero-tariff policy on imports from African countries, noting that the initiative presents significant opportunities to boost Nigeria’s non-oil exports and deepen trade integration.

The NACCIMA delegation also participated actively in the 139th Canton Fair and embarked on industrial tours to leading Chinese companies including Wanli Tire Corporation Limited, Guangda Shoes Factory, and Guangzhou Autoworld Export Base, reinforcing NACCIMA’s commitment to industrial partnerships, technology transfer, and increased investment collaboration between Nigeria and China.

NACCIMA AT THE OPENING CEREMONY OF THE BADADRY TRADE FAIR 2026
The maiden edition of the Badagry Trade Fair 2026 officially commenced yesterday, 8th May 2026, at the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex, Ojo, under the theme: “Trading Without Borders: Empowering Business for Regional and Global Market.”

Organised by the Badagry Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, the trade fair aims to promote local and international trade, support SMEs, attract investments, strengthen cross-border commerce, and foster regional integration under ECOWAS and the AfCFTA framework.

Representing the National President of Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Engr. Jani Ibrahim, mni, OON, the Director General, Engr. Sola Obadimu, commended BACCIMA for championing enterprise development and economic inclusion through the initiative.

Speaking on the theme, he emphasized the importance of regional integration, cross-border collaboration, and interconnected African markets as critical drivers of sustainable economic growth. He further highlighted the immense opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area, noting that the agreement opens access to a market of over 1.4 billion people with a combined GDP exceeding $3.4 trillion.

He also reiterated the strategic role of chambers of commerce in supporting businesses through advocacy, trade facilitation, market linkages, capacity building, and policy engagement, while describing Badagry as a vital gateway for West African regional commerce.

Dignitaries present at the opening ceremony included representatives of the Lagos State Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Nigeria Customs Service, Federation of West African Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and other distinguished stakeholders from the public and private sectors.

The ceremony concluded with exhibition stand tours and group photographs.

Today, the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), in collaboration with the High Commission of India and the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), participated in the India–Nigeria Textile Trade and Investment B2B Forum themed: “Reviving the Textile Industry in Nigeria.”

The forum brought together key stakeholders from government, industry, and the organized private sector to explore strategic partnerships aimed at repositioning Nigeria’s textile sector for sustainable growth, industrialization, job creation, and increased non-oil exports.
