ITPO Nigeria launches Gender Lens Investing Community of Practice (GLICOP) Engagement Series 1.0 in Lagos.🎊🇳🇬

The community converged at the 21st century building in Lekki on August 25th, 2023 to discuss how gender lens investing can play a pivotal role in driving positive change. The focus continues to shift towards more sustainable, inclusive, and equitable economic practices.

Shifting the narrative from one of charity to one of economic advantage can be a powerful tool to influence decision-makers in the investment world, such as laying evidence-based emphasis on women-led businesses producing larger ROIs.

The impact of the event was indisputable, the journey continuous but we are happy to be pushing this narrative that is already yielding positive results.

🌍 : Collaborative Success for Sustainable Impact!

The Africa Summit on "Global Vision, Local Action: Repositioning the African Development Ecosystem for Sustainable Outcomes" (ASIS2023) has concluded with a resounding impact!

Deal Room Highlights: Partnering with the African Venture Philanthropy Alliance and the Sterling One Foundation, the ASIS 2023 Deal Room was a dynamic hub of innovation. Among 450 applications received, 15 exceptional companies were selected following a rigorous vetting process.

UNIDO ITPO Nigeria's Impact: 9 businesses from our UNIDO ITPO Nigeria network embraced the challenge, with 4 outstanding ventures—Koolboks , Paperbags by Ebees, Printivo, and GIVO Africa —pitching their ideas with conviction.

Investment Anticipation: We eagerly await the investment commitments to be announced in three weeks, setting the stage for transformative opportunities.

Empowering Excellence: Notable among our achievements is the recognition of Paper bag by Ebees, selected to receive valuable technical assistance and a thorough valuation courtesy of one of the Deal Room investors. This tangible support underlines our dedication to nurturing promising ventures and propelling them towards resounding success.

Inclusivity at Heart: Our commitment to inclusivity shone through via the creation of a buffer list. This specialized list serves as an avenue for non-shortlisted companies, with a particular emphasis on UNIDO founders and exceptional female entrepreneurs. These businesses will remain in our considerations for future funding matchmaking opportunities beyond ASIS 2023, ensuring that their potential continues to thrive.

UNIDO ITPO Nigeria is thrilled to have had the opportunity to participate in both the opening and closing ceremonies of the Poder Green Consulting's Academy Cohort 2.0 Women for Renewable Energy Training Program. Witnessing the program's journey from its inception to its successful conclusion was truly inspiring. We are proud to have been a part of this transformative initiative, celebrating the dedication and achievements of the participants throughout their learning journey.

The opening ceremony set the stage for an exciting and impactful program, filled with enthusiastic and passionate women ready to make a difference in the renewable energy sector. It was a moment of hope and promise, as we saw the potential for these aspiring professionals to shape the future of sustainable energy in Nigeria.

And now, at the closing ceremony, we couldn't be prouder of the remarkable progress and growth demonstrated by the graduates. Their commitment to creating a greener and more sustainable future through renewable energy is commendable. Ms. Abimbola Wycliffe gave an enlightening presentation on 'The Inevitable Smart Future' and the transformative role of AI and IoT. She reinforced the undeniable importance of women's involvement in shaping the dynamic tech landscape, reaffirming UNIDO's collective commitment to driving innovation in sustainable technology solutions.

🎊 It gives us great pleasure to share some highlights from the just-concluded sensitization workshop on the Nigerian Investment Policy document (NInP) that converged relevant stakeholders at the Conference Hall of Nigerian Export Promotion Council, Abuja.

The Nigerian ITPO Head, Abimbola Wycliffe delivered a goodwill message at the event organized by FMITI.

ITPO Nigeria continues to strengthen its institutional partnerships by providing technical support to the public and private sectors in preparation for the operationalization of AfCFTA.
