Why I Choose Rotary

The "Business of Doing Good" 🌍

I’m often asked, "Why did you join Rotary? What’s in it for you?"

To put it simply: Rotary is an organization in the business of doing good. We aren't just a club; we are a global engine for social impact. From local community projects to international health initiatives, our primary goal is to leave the world better than we found it. Need i remind you that Polio Eradication to almost non-existent is the work of Rotary International

But here is the part that surprises many: This mission is powered by us. It is funded and fueled by the generosity of members who believe that collective action can solve the world's most persistent problems.

While we join to give back, the personal and professional rewards are immense. When you become a Rotarian, you gain:
- A Global Network: You instantly connect with a diverse group of professionals—leaders, entrepreneurs, and experts—all sharing a common ethical foundation.

- Business & Growth: Many of my most meaningful professional connections and business expansions started over a Rotary fellowship. It’s networking with a purpose.

- A Place to Unwind: Life is busy. Our meetings and events provide a much-needed space to unwind, share a laugh, and recharge with like-minded friends.

- Continuous Learning: Every meeting is an opportunity to meet new people and gain fresh perspectives on global and local issues.

Service Above Self isn’t just a motto; it’s a lifestyle that enriches the giver as much as the receiver. If you’ve ever wanted to make an impact while growing your own horizons, there’s a seat at the table for you.

Celebrating a Legacy of Service: Happy Birthday, Paul Harris!

Today, the **Rotary Club of Shomolu** join millions across the globe to celebrate the birthday of a true visionary and the foundational pillar of our great organization, Paul Harris.

More than a century ago, Paul Harris planted a seed of fellowship in Chicago that has since grown into a massive canopy of hope, spanning every corner of the planet. His belief that "the power of many is greater than the power of one" transformed the landscape of modern philanthropy and gave birth to the world’s first service organization.

**A Visionary Who Changed the World**
We extol Paul Harris for his unwavering commitment to **Service Above Self**. He didn't just create a club; he created a global movement built on integrity, leadership, and a profound sense of duty to our neighbors. Through his foresight, professional networking was reimagined as a vehicle for humanitarian progress.

**The Fight to End Polio**
Nowhere is his influence more evident than in Rotary’s relentless pursuit of a **Polio-Free World**. Inspired by the infrastructure Harris built, Rotarians have spent decades on the front lines—immunizing children, advocating with governments, and crossing borders to ensure no child suffers from this preventable disease. Because of the foundation he laid, we are on the very brink of eradicating Polio forever.

**Our Commitment from Shomolu**
As we honor his memory today, the **Rotary Club of Shomolu** reaffirms its dedication to his mission. Whether through local community projects, supporting education, or promoting peace, we carry his torch with pride.
**Happy Birthday, Paul Harris.** Your legacy isn't just in the history books; it is alive in every hand extended in friendship and every life changed through Rotary.

Dear Esteemed Rotarians of the Rotary Club of Shomolu,

On this glorious occasion of Easter, I extend my warmest greetings to each and every one of you.

Easter reminds us of the ultimate sacrifice, love, and victory of life over death through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is a powerful symbol of hope, renewal, and the promise of new beginnings. As Rotarians committed to service above self, may this season inspire us to continue touching lives, uplifting our communities, and spreading compassion wherever we go.

Let us reflect on the values of sacrifice, selflessness, and love, and allow them to guide our actions as we serve humanity with even greater passion and dedication.

May the joy of the risen Christ fill your hearts, your homes, and all that concerns you with peace, happiness, and divine blessings.

Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed and joyful Easter celebration.

Yours in Rotary Service,
Rtn. Ejime Emmanuel
