Yesterday, ICCEF proudly hosted the Intra-School Book Reading and Essay Competition Awards Ceremony, bringing together students, teachers, and supporters to celebrate the power of reading.

Over the past few months, 50+ students from 8 secondary schools across Lagos participated in guided reading sessions and essay writing inspired by “Against All Odds: The Biography of Innocent Chukwuemeka Chukwuma”. At the ceremony, 3 outstanding students from each participating school were recognised and awarded prizes and certificates for their exceptional performance and every student received a certificate of participation.

The event also featured an inspiring guest presentation by Olubukola Agbalajobi-Odetayo of Bukies Literary on the topic “The Best Friend I Could Ever Have”where she spoke passionately about the importance of reading and the lifelong value of books. Her message encouraged the students to see reading not just as a school activity, but as a companion that can shape their knowledge, confidence, and future.

Yesterday was a reminder that investing in young minds matters. Every essay written, every book read, and every student encouraged is a step toward building a more thoughtful, informed, and confident generation.

We would like to say a big thank you to all the Students, participating schools, and teachers, who made this initiative a success.

The 5th Year Memorial and 4th Annual Innocent Chukwuemeka Chukwuma Impact and Legacy Lecture held in The Centre for Memories Enugu brought together leaders, advocates, partners, family, and members of the public for an important conversation on leadership, accountability, and public trust.

Delivered by guest lecturer Dr Sam Amadi, the lecture challenged participants to reflect on the kind of leadership needed to rebuild institutions that truly serve the people.

Beyond the discussions, the event was also a powerful reminder of the enduring impact of Innocent Chukwuemeka Chukwuma’s life and work. Through heartfelt reflections from family members and speakers, one message stood out clearly: titles may fade, but meaningful impact endures.
