Yesterday, ICCEF proudly hosted the Intra-School Book Reading and Essay Competition Awards Ceremony, bringing together students, teachers, and supporters to celebrate the power of reading.
Over the past few months, 50+ students from 8 secondary schools across Lagos participated in guided reading sessions and essay writing inspired by âAgainst All Odds: The Biography of Innocent Chukwuemeka Chukwumaâ. At the ceremony, 3 outstanding students from each participating school were recognised and awarded prizes and certificates for their exceptional performance and every student received a certificate of participation.
The event also featured an inspiring guest presentation by Olubukola Agbalajobi-Odetayo of Bukies Literary on the topic âThe Best Friend I Could Ever Haveâwhere she spoke passionately about the importance of reading and the lifelong value of books. Her message encouraged the students to see reading not just as a school activity, but as a companion that can shape their knowledge, confidence, and future.
Yesterday was a reminder that investing in young minds matters. Every essay written, every book read, and every student encouraged is a step toward building a more thoughtful, informed, and confident generation.
We would like to say a big thank you to all the Students, participating schools, and teachers, who made this initiative a success.
