Isolo NYCN’s PRO Jennifer Esenwa, Monsur Aregbe Inaugurated As Lagos Youth Safety, Emergency Champions

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Isolo Local Branch, Comrade Jennifer Esenwa alongside a fellow comrade, Monsur Aregbe were on Wednesday inaugurated as members of Lagos Youth Safety and Emergency Champions (LYSEC); a watchdog, an early-warning mechanism, and a first-line community response network to help avert safety issues within communities and across Lagos State at large.
LYSEC is an initiative of NYCN Lagos State Chapter under the visionary leadership of Engr. Adigun Ibrahim Olalekan, MNSE.
Led by the Coordinator, Damilola Kushimo, Comrade Jennifer Esenwa and Comrade Monsur Aregbe from Isolo Local Branch were inaugurated alongside other youths drawn from the 57 LGAs and LCDAs in the state to enhance safety and emergency response.
The inauguration formed a major part of the Lagos Youth Talk Series 2.0 themed: Street-Smart Safety: How Lagos Youth Can Strengthen Community Emergency Response’ and held at the Sam Shonibare Youth Centre, Surulere.
The event was graced by the Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-governmental relations, Hon. Olugbenga Oyerinde; the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, the Chairman of Onigbongbo LCDA, Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo representatives of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos State Traffic and Safety Management Authority (LASTMA), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) among others.
Their presence further underscored the importance of youth inclusion, leadership development, and sustained collaboration between young people and government institutions.
In addition to the inauguration, unveiling of framework and the engaging sessions, the programme incorporated on-site civic registration services, including Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) registration and early registration with the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA). Able officers were on ground to ensure that both registration processes were conducted efficiently, enabling eligible youths to access the services conveniently before and during the event.
Overall, the Lagos Youth Talk Series 2.0 was a successful and impactful engagement, reflecting the shared commitment of youth bodies, government institutions, and relevant agencies to strengthening youth participation, safety consciousness, and civic responsibility across Lagos State.
