NYCN Isolo Local Branch Decorates Founder Of Vineyard Christian Ministries, Archbishop Osa-Oni As Spiritual Patron

…Seeks Spiritual Support, Fatherly Guidance, Others from Man of God

The leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Isolo Local Branch, has formally decorated the Founder and General Overseer of Vineyard Christian Ministries, Archbishop John Adebayo Alagbala Osa-Oni, as one of its Spiritual Patrons.

The honour was bestowed on the reputable Man of God penultimate Sunday at the church’s headquarters on Osolo Way, Isolo.

According to the Coordinator of the youth umbrella body, Damilola Kushimo, the honour, which was the first of its kind for any clergyman in Isolo, was in recognition of Archbishop Osa-Oni’s diligent discharge of his spiritual responsibilities and his demonstrated commitment to youth development.

Addressing the congregation, Kushimo described the General Overseer as a man of divine calling whose trajectory in kingdom work is inspiring. He emphasised that the Man of God ticked all the boxes to merit the honour, particularly owing to his love for the younger generation and his contributions to the growth and development of young individuals around him.

“What we’ve come to do today is to celebrate God’s grace in Daddy’s life. Over the years, we’ve observed how he has been a blessing to Isolo community and the world at large through his diligence in the discharge of his spiritual assignment and his commitment to the growth of young individuals,” Kushimo began.

“Recently, we were here to celebrate him on his 70th birthday, and the reception we received was remarkable. Today again, it is a great delight to be back here to honour our promise of officially decorating him as one of our Spiritual Patrons.

“With this decoration, we trust that he will keep up with his spiritual and fatherly support for youth. We don’t want the youth of this church to be the only ones enjoying his spiritual blessings. We want the wider youth demography in Isolo to also benefit from his wealth of wisdom, experience and spiritual guidance,” the Coordinator added.

The youth leader also utilised the occasion to familiarise the congregation with the activities of the youth umbrella body, highlighting some of the programmes and initiatives executed by his administration and others currently in the pipeline.

He noted that NYCN Isolo remains committed to building stronger relationships with religious, traditional, political, professional and community stakeholders towards advancing the interests and development of young people in the LCDA.

Kushimo further sought the Archbishop’s continued prayers, spiritual support, fatherly counsel and guidance for the leadership and members of NYCN Isolo, stressing that the organisation would greatly benefit from his wealth of experience and wisdom as it pursues its youth-focused programmes.

In his remarks, Archbishop Osa-Oni appreciated the gesture and commended the youth group for deeming it appropriate to associate with the church and recognise his contributions to the development of young people.

He expressed his commitment to supporting the youth body in its programmes and encouraged the leadership to remain focused on initiatives that promote discipline, responsible leadership, education, entrepreneurship and positive values among young people.

He urged the youths to remain connected to God, respect constituted authorities and avoid practices capable of jeopardising their future, assuring the NYCN leadership of his prayers and fatherly support.

…CONGRATULATES HIM ON EMERGENCE AS APC CHAIRMAN, 50TH BIRTHDAY MILESTONE

The leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Isolo Local Branch, has paid a courtesy visit to a revered leader and former Chairman of the Boys’ Brigade, Isolo Battalion Council, Comrade Akinwale Tonade.

The Boys’ Brigade is one of the founding Voluntary Youth Organizations (VYOs) of NYCN in Isolo LCDA.

The visit was aimed at formally congratulating Comrade Tonade on his emergence as the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Isolo LCDA, while also celebrating with him on attaining the remarkable milestone age of 50.

Leading the incumbent executives and select members of the Council on the visit, a former two-term Coordinator of the youth umbrella body, Comrade Saliu Adewole, recalled Comrade Tonade’s immense and consistent contributions to the growth and development of the organisation.

Adewole extolled his virtues of selflessness, dedication, loyalty and service, describing his emergence as APC Chairman as a fitting recognition of his years of hard work, commitment to public service and contributions to the political and overall development of Isolo.

He described Comrade Tonade as a ranking leader in the youth development space across Oshodi-Isolo and Ejigbo and, by extension, Lagos State, noting that his contributions to youth development and community building over the years have been significant and impactful.

In his remarks, the Coordinator of NYCN Isolo Local Branch, Comrade Damilola Kushimo, lauded Comrade Tonade for his longstanding commitment to youth development and advocacy. He described him as a passionate leader who has consistently made himself available to guide, mentor and offer valuable counsel to young people around him.

Kushimo further described Comrade Tonade as a blessing to the youth constituency in Isolo LCDA, expressing confidence that his wealth of experience and new position as APC Chairman would provide another platform for him to contribute meaningfully to the development and advancement of young people.

True to one of his core values of mentoring and impacting young individuals, Comrade Tonade appreciated the youth representatives for the visit and used the opportunity to share valuable insights on the importance of maintaining personal dignity, integrity and loyalty to whatever cause one believes in.

Reflecting on his longstanding association with the Boys’ Brigade and the NYCN, he said: “I am an officer of the Boys’ Brigade. I was the Chairman of the Boys’ Brigade, Isolo Battalion Council. Once a comrade, forever a comrade. I am proud of your activities. Your mandate is not a rewarding one; it is a service to humanity. Your gains might not be immediate, but they are for the future. Exposure to politics is part of the gains. Some of the past leaders of NYCN are doing well for themselves in politics now.

“See this office as your office because the person occupying this office today is one of you. Feel free to walk in. God will continue to be with you.”

Other members of the youth groups in attendance included the acting secretary, Comrade Mustopha Najmudeen; the treasurer, Comrade Ruqoyah Isah, the Assistant Secretary Comrade Mujtabah Akinola; the Chief of Staff to the Coordinator, Comrade Monsur Aregbe, the Director of Sports, Recreational and Social Activities, Comrade Segun Johnson among others.

NYCN Isolo LB’s Secretary Of Environment Directorate Onboarded Into LAWMA’s Youth Sanitation Advocates

Secretary of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Isolo Local Branch’s Directorate of Environment, Housing and Ecology, Abiebhode Lateef Ehizojie has been onboarded as Lagos Youth Sanitation Advocate.

The initiative, championed by the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) is aimed at empowering young people to promote environmental responsibility, proper sanitation, and sustainable waste management practices across Lagos State.

The event was held at LAWMA’s headquarters in Ijora, Lagos, on Friday.

Abiebhode’s participation reflects the important role of youths in promoting a cleaner, healthier, and greater Lagos and encouraging positive environmental practices within their communities.

The programme provided an opportunity to learn, connect with other young people across the state as led by Engr. Adigun Ibrahim Olalekan, MNSE, and contribute to the vision of building a cleaner, healthier, and greater Lagos. I was also honoured to receive a Certificate of Recognition for my participation.

Commenting on the program, Abiebhode appreciated the leadership of NYCN Isolo Local Branch ably led by Damilola Kushimo for what he described as a wonderful opportunity to fly the flag of Isolo.

His words: “I’m appreciative of this opportunity by the executives of NYCN Isolo. It a great privilege to have been selected to represent Isolo here. The experience further reminded me that keeping our environment clean is a collective responsibility. As youths, we can make a difference by promoting proper waste disposal, recycling and responsible environmental practices within our communities. NYCN Isolo Pays Courtesy Visit To MD General Hospital Isolo, Dr. Arogundade, Pledges Collaborative Effort On Health Advocacy

In furtherance of our commitment to fostering relationships with critical stakeholders in Isolo LCDA, the leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Isolo Local Branch has paid a courtesy visit to the Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer of General Hospital, Isolo, Dr. Adeolu Arogundade. The visit, according to our coordinator Damilola Kushimo, was aimed at strengthening collaboration in the areas of health advocacy, community engagement and initiatives that promote the wellbeing of residents.

Dr. Arogundade, in his address expressed delight in meeting with the youth umbrella body as he charged us, as young individuals, to leverage our numerical strength, capacity and ingenuity towards innovation in the healthcare sector.

He tasked the youth umbrella body to champion advocacy around preventive healthcare, health insurance, technology, patient engagement and home-based care, stressing that the future of healthcare extend beyond the walls of medical facilities.

The Medical Director assured us of the hospital management’s support for our programmes and projects, stressing that the hospital is an integral part of the community and cannot operate in isolation. He emphasised the need for stronger collaboration with community stakeholders, particularly youth organisations, while the Head of Human Resources, Mr. James Dawodu, charged us to extend health advocacy into the community, particularly on proper waste disposal, environmental sanitation and other practices that promote healthy living.

In his remarks, our Coordinator, Damilola Kushimo, pledged NYCN’s commitment to sustained collaboration with critical stakeholders towards making Isolo a more habitable, healthier and safer community. He commended Dr. Arogundade and the hospital management for their openness to partnership and commitment to quality healthcare delivery, noting that NYCN Isolo would continue to leverage its grassroots network to support health awareness and community development.

Other members of the delegation included the Treasurer, Comrade Ruqoyah Isah; the Director of Directorate of Health, Testimony Adegeye, Monsur Aregbe, Sultan Abiona and Olubiyi-Agoro Sheriffdeen among others.

NYCN Isolo LB Hosts Officials From NOA, BudgIT, IRARA During Monthly Management Meeting

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Isolo Local Branch, successfully held its August Management Meeting, bringing together executive members, leaderships of its federating Voluntary Youth Organizations (VYOs), Community Based Organizations (CBOs), and key institutional partners to align on policy, strategic community outreach, and civic development in the council area.

The meeting held on Friday, 28th August 2026 at the Youth Centre in LSDPC Estate, Ile Iwe Metta, featured high-level representations from the National Orientation Agency (NOA), International Returns and Reintegration Assistance organization (IRARA), and BudgIT, highlighting a unified effort to address pressing socioeconomic issues affecting young people at the grassroots level.

During the meeting, representatives from IRARA led by Mr. Tony Nwaoha delivered an enlightening presentation addressing the pervasive "Japa" phenomenon, focusing on the rising tide of emigration among Nigerian youths. The agency provided clear insights into the risks associated with undocumented migration while advocating for safe, legal, and informed choices.

Crucially, IRARA formally introduced one of its programs, Assisting the Reintegration of Returnees through Integrated Vocational and Entrepreneurship Support (ARRIVES), a targeted intervention framework designed specifically for immigrants and returnees to provide structured rehabilitation, economic reintegration, and essential support systems for safe community transitions.

Complementing this session, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) reinforced the imperative of civic duty, national values, and peacebuilding among the youth, while BudgIT conducted a session on fiscal literacy and grassroots transparency, equipping participants with knowledge on monitoring local government spending and driving civic accountability.

Following the briefings, the Local Branch Coordinator, Damilola Kushimo, pledged the youth umbrella body’s support for the visiting organizations’ social goals and objectives.

He described IRARA’s ARRIVES as a laudable program that needs to be better publicized for the betterment of illegal Nigerian migrants abroad especially in Germany where the program presently covers.

In the same vein, he commended the officials of NOA led by Alhaja Khafila Olisa and the official from BudgIT, Mr. Kayode Oseni for advancing the civic organization’s core objective of simplifying public spending and promoting government accountability reassuring that NYCN Isolo Local Branch will domesticate their messages deep into the grassroots.

The youth leader further outlined the council's immediate operational roadmap, announcing a series of upcoming programs designed to expand community impact. Key among these is an extensive Secondary School Tour aimed at delivering mentorship, career guidance, and social advocacy to students across Isolo LCDA.

Kushimo also announced preparations for the administration’s first anniversary program, marking twelve months of leadership, youth advocacy, and community outreach, alongside additional leadership workshops scheduled for the coming quarter.

Curtain was drawn on the meeting by the coordinator following a well-moved motion for adjournment after the day’s agenda had been exhausted.

Today, as the world commemorates International Youth Day under the theme “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” I am delighted, in my capacity as the Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Isolo Local Branch, to celebrate the resilient, innovative and enterprising young people of Isolo LCDA.

The theme aptly captures the realities of young people across the world. While our circumstances, experiences and challenges may differ, our aspirations remain remarkably similar: to live in a society where opportunities are accessible, talents are nurtured, voices are heard and every young person has a fair chance to fulfil their potential.

In Isolo, we have continued to witness young people at the forefront of socioeconomic endeavours, from education, technology and innovation to entrepreneurship, environmental advocacy, community development and, of course, governance. Our contributions are a testament to our resilience, ingenuity and determination and a reminder that they we are not merely leaders of tomorrow, but important partners in building the society we desire today.

May I use this medium to commend the Chairman of Isolo LCDA - Otunba Olasoju Adebayo; the lawmaker representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II at the Lagos State Hosue of Assembly - Hon. Ladi Ajomale; HRM Oba Isa Abiodun Olakunle Faronbi-Shekoni - the Osolo of Isolo; the incoming MHR - Hon. Monsuru Oloyede Bello among other notable politicians as well as Non-Governmental organisations, service clubs such as Rotary Clubs, Lion Clubs among other as well private-sector organisations, community leaders and other stakeholders for their continued commitment to youth development and empowerment.

Your investments in capacity building, education, entrepreneurship, leadership and other youth-focused initiatives are commendable and deserving of recognition. I humbly urge you not to relent, but to deepen these interventions and create even more opportunities for young people to thrive, contribute meaningfully and take our rightful place in shaping the future we desire.

NYCN Isolo Local Branch, under my leadership remains committed to championing initiatives that promote youth development, participation, inclusion and empowerment.

Of course, different contexts may shape our experiences, but our common aspirations unite us.

Together, we can build an Isolo where every young person has the opportunity to turn their potential into purpose and their aspirations into meaningful impact.

NYCN Isolo Marks World Youth Skills Day With Training Programs On Photography, Confectionery, Others

…Facilitates Loan, Grant Opportunities For Participants

No fewer than 34 young individuals have acquired one skill or another through a free intensive skills acquisition programme organised by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Isolo Local Branch, to commemorate this year's World Youth Skills Day.

The programme, themed "Skills for a Shared Future," featured practical training sessions in Photography and Photo Editing, Confectionery, and Soap Making. It was organised in line with the directive of the NYCN Lagos State Chapter under the leadership of its Chairman, Engr. Adigun Ibrahim Olalekan, to commemorate the global observance while equipping young people with practical and entrepreneurial skills.

Addressing participants at the event, the Coordinator of NYCN Isolo Local Branch, Damilola Kushimo, explained that beyond commemorating World Youth Skills Day, the initiative was designed to promote the importance of skills acquisition as a viable pathway to self-reliance, employment generation and economic empowerment. He urged participants to make effective use of the knowledge acquired by turning their newly acquired skills into sustainable sources of livelihood.

Kushimo further noted that the youth council remains committed to complementing government efforts in reducing unemployment by exposing young people to vocational opportunities capable of improving their standard of living. He encouraged the beneficiaries to remain focused and take advantage of available support programmes aimed at helping entrepreneurs establish and expand their businesses.

The Assistant Public Relations Officer of the NYCN Lagos State Chapter, Comrade Choice Ukpai, was in attendance to monitor the exercise.

Officials of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), Isolo LCDA branch, were also present to engage participants on available start-up loan and grant opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs. They enlightened beneficiaries on the application process and encouraged them to take advantage of the various intervention programmes designed to support youth-owned businesses.

Speaking after the programme, Kushimo expressed delight at its successful outcome and appreciated the Executive Chairman of Isolo LCDA, Olasoju Adebayo, for his unwavering support towards youth development. He also acknowledged the Supervisor for Agriculture, Rural and Social Development, Hon. Olamide Taiwo, for his financial support for the success of the event. Also, he commended the facilitators for what he described as topnotch training.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the NYCN Isolo Local Branch to organising more programmes and projects that will empower young people, enhance their capacity and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic growth of Isolo and Lagos State.

Kushimo Celebrates CoS, ‘Brother in Purpose’ Comrade Monsur Aregbe, Appreciates His Consistent Support

The Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Isolo Local Branch, Damilola Kushimo, has heartily rejoiced with his Chief of Staff and Otun Baale of Isale-Odo, Isolo LCDA, Comrade (Chief) Monsur Aregbe, as he becomes a year older today.

Describing the celebrant as a "Brother in Purpose" and one of the distinguished youths in Isolo, Kushimo appreciated his immense support, especially his contributions to the ex*****on of the youth body's programmes.

"It gives me immense pleasure to celebrate a dependable brother, one whom I can call 'A Brother in Purpose,' Comrade Monsur Aregbe, as he marks his birth anniversary today. Over the years, Aregbe has distinguished himself as a responsible and vibrant youth ambassador, to the extent of meriting the eye-catching chieftaincy title of the 'Otun Baale of Isale-Odo Kingdom,'" the statement read in part.

Kushimo further described Aregbe as one of the indispensable members of his team and expressed profound appreciation for his contributions to the success of his administration. He wished him many more years to celebrate in sound health and all-round prosperity.

"Today, I join Chief Aregbe in returning all glory to Almighty God for the grace to celebrate yet another birthday and pray that this new age comes with renewed vigour to keep being an inspiring figure in the youth space. Happy birthday, my dear brother," the statement concluded.

NYCN Isolo Holds July Management Meeting

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Isolo Local Branch, on Friday held its July Management Meeting to review its activities over the past month and set the tone for forthcoming programmes.

The meeting, held at Ilasamaja Community Hall, had in attendance heads of the youth umbrella body's affiliate Voluntary Youth Organizations (VYOs), Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), past leaders, executive members and other relevant stakeholders.

Chaired by the Coordinator, Damilola Kushimo, the meeting featured deliberations on the council's past programmes and proposed human capital development initiatives aimed at empowering youths in the community. To see to the successful implementation of the upcoming programmes, planning committees were immediately constituted.

Among other topics of discussion was the ongoing Permanent Voter's Card (PVC) registration exercise. Kushimo encouraged eligible members who are yet to register to take advantage of the arrangements facilitated by the group’s leadership. Members were equally enlightened on the benefits and registration process of the Ilera Eko Health Insurance Scheme, alongside other impactful programmes of the Lagos State Government and Isolo LCDA.

As part of efforts to encourage punctuality and discipline among members, brand NYCN T-shirts were presented to the most punctual attendees. Kushimo noted that the initiative had become important to reward commitment, inspire consistency and promote a culture of responsibility among members.

On his part, an esteemed leader and former Coordinator of the local branch, Comrade Saliu Adewole Jamiu, commended the executive for sustaining the council's activities and urged them to remain resilient, focused and committed to the vision of youth development. He encouraged members to continue working in unity, uphold the values of the council and intensify efforts towards impactful programmes.
