The full *VAPP Implementation Survey Report* is ready!
Ten years after Nigeria passed the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act, data on its implementation shows *only 50.7% of the population know it exist.* Of those aware, only 29% know the content “very well.”
Among those unaware, 52.3% are female, 48.1% live in rural areas, 23.8% have no formal education, and 63.1% are unemployed – groups most vulnerable to GBV, yet least informed.
Edo State has the highest awareness at 81.8%, followed by Nasarawa at 69.6%. Rivers has the lowest at 14.1%, with Kwara next at 18.3%.
About 46% of the population do not know of a Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC); and 13 states (36.1%) do not have a s*x offenders register, thus weakening prevention, response, and accountability.
These and more national and state-level insights are what you will find in Invictus Africa’s VAPP Implementation Survey Report 2025, covering 35 states (except Kano) and the FCT.
