As we hold our Red Flag Campaign Knowledge Sharing Session today, we're taking a moment to reflect on the impact we've made over the past month.

Through school engagements across Oyo and Lagos States, we have reached 475 adolescent girls with critical information and support on menstrual health, sexual and reproductive health, and cervical cancer prevention.

We're excited to see the Red Flag Campaign 2026 featured in Vanguard News.

What started as a conversation has grown into a movement committed to tackling period poverty, promoting menstrual health education, and increasing awareness about cervical cancer prevention and HPV among adolescent girls.

Through this campaign, we are reaching schools across Ibadan with the knowledge, resources, and support girls need to make informed decisions about their health and future.

World Menstrual Hygiene Day reminds us that girls’ health conversations must go beyond menstruation alone and include the full spectrum of reproductive health, prevention, and access to care.

As part of the Red Flag Campaign 2026, we facilitated a cervical cancer awareness session delivered through the Oyo State Primary Healthcare Board, in partnership with Girl Effect

The session introduced students to cervical cancer in a simple and relatable way—what it is, how it affects women, and why early prevention is critical. A strong focus was placed on HPV vaccination as a key preventive measure, alongside the importance of early awareness and regular health-seeking behaviour.

For many of the girls, this was their first time hearing about cervical cancer, and the session created space for honest questions, curiosity, and active participation. What stood out was how quickly they began connecting the information to their own health and future, showing a real desire to understand how to protect themselves.

This collaboration is part of a wider effort to ensure that girls are not only informed but also connected to credible health systems and preventive care through trusted public health structures.

Moments like this reinforce why partnerships with health institutions and development actors matter — they help turn awareness into real access, understanding, and action.

As we commemorate World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026, we are excited by the impact recorded during the practical menstrual health and hygiene management session at our first school engagement for the Red Flag Campaign 2026.

The session focused on helping girls practically understand menstrual hygiene management, proper sanitary pad usage, healthy hygiene practices during menstruation, period tracking, and how to confidently manage their periods without shame or fear.

One of the most inspiring moments was seeing the excitement, openness, and growing confidence of the girls as they freely asked questions, shared experiences, and participated in conversations around menstruation without embarrassment.

These conversations matter because menstrual health is more than a health issue — it is connected to dignity, confidence, education, and wellbeing. Every girl deserves accurate information and safe spaces where she can learn openly and confidently.

With the support of our Platinum Partner, Girl Effect, the Red Flag Campaign 2026 continues to expand meaningful conversations and practical health education for girls across schools and communities.

As we commemorate World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026, we recognize the dedication, passion, and commitment of our incredible team, volunteers, facilitators, and our Platinum Partner, Girl Effect, for making the Red Flag Campaign 2026 impactful across schools and communities in Oyo State.

From creating safe spaces for girls to openly discuss menstrual health and hygiene, to facilitating conversations around confidence, dignity, cervical cancer awareness, HPV prevention, and GBV prevention, this campaign continues to remind us of the importance of collective action and intentional partnerships.

The excitement, confidence, and openness we continue to witness from the girls during these engagements reinforces why these conversations matter and why no girl should have to navigate menstruation in silence or shame.

Together, we are not just advancing menstrual health awareness — we are helping girls feel seen, informed, supported, and empowered. 💜
