| Every Post Shapes Africa's Democratic Future

Information integrity is everyone’s responsibility.
Before you share, pause and ask:
✔ Is it true?
✔ Has it been verified?
✔ Will it promote peace or spread division?

In today’s digital world, every click, share and post matters. Information can inform, inspire—or mislead. Misinformation, disinformation, hate speech and manipulated content can weaken trust, divide communities and affect democratic processes.

In the digital age, every citizen is a digital gatekeeper. Every responsible post helps to:
Protect election integrityCounter misinformation and disinformationReject harmful narratives Promote peaceful civic participationBuild trust in credible information
. Strengthen democratic resilience

At LEADIN AFRICA we believe informed citizens and responsible digital engagement are essential for stronger democracies and peaceful societies.

This campaign was inspired by LEADIN AFRICA’s participation in the “Truth at the Ballot: Strengthening Media and Civil Society for Democratic and Peaceful Elections in Nigeria” workshop organised by FactCheck Africa and supported by FIAP through the EU ESPG Project,

THINK. VERIFY. POST. PROTECT DEMOCRACY.

What does it take to safeguard democratic and peaceful elections in an era of misinformation, disinformation, and rapidly evolving digital technologies?

Over the past three days in Lagos, LEADIN Africa participated alongside media professionals, fact-checkers, and civil society actors in the regional capacity-building workshop titled "Truth at the Ballot: Strengthening Media and Civil Society for Democratic and Peaceful Elections in Nigeria."

Represented by our Executive Director, Margaret ChiChi Nkire, the workshop provided practical insights into Nigeria's evolving disinformation landscape ahead of the 2027 elections, verification and fact-checking workflows, AI-assisted verification, OSINT techniques, hate speech and narrative analysis, gender-sensitive and youth-inclusive reporting, safe and responsible information ecosystems, and collaborative approaches to strengthening information integrity.

Beyond the knowledge shared, the workshop reinforced a critical lesson: promoting credible information requires informed citizens, resilient media, active civil society, and strong partnerships committed to democratic participation and peaceful societies.

LEADIN Africa appreciates FactCheckAfrica for convening this impactful capacity-building initiative and FIAP, through the EU Support to ECOWAS in Peace, Security and Governance (ESPG) Project, for supporting efforts to strengthen information integrity, civic engagement, and democratic resilience

Implemented by FIAP in collaboration with FactCheckAfrica under the EPSG Project.
