CHASOF Marks World Book Day with Commitment to Early Literacy in Delta State,Nigeria.
In celebration of World Book Day, the Charles Soares Obiorah Foundation (CHASOF) is highlighting its efforts to nurture a culture of reading among young children in underserved communities across Delta State.
Through its CHASOF Early Childhood Development Initiative, the foundation promotes reading and learning among children ages 0–5, a critical stage for language and brain development.
The initiative provides bi-monthly book gifts to young children in underserved communities, ensuring they have access to age-appropriate books at the earliest stage of life. Many families in these communities have little or no access to children’s books, making early literacy support essential.
“Books open the door to imagination, knowledge, and opportunity,” said the founder of the initiative. “By introducing books early, we are helping children develop a love for reading that can shape their future.”
In addition to distributing books, the initiative encourages parents and caregivers to read aloud to their children, helping to strengthen early learning and emotional bonding.
As the world celebrates World Book Day, the Charles Soares Obiorah Foundation (CHASOF) calls on partners, donors, and community members to support its mission of expanding access to books for young children across underserved communities in Delta State.
About CHASOF
The Charles Soares Obiorah Foundation (CHASOF) is a community-focused foundation dedicated to improving early childhood development through literacy, learning, and access to books for children aged 0–5 in underserved communities in Delta State, Nigeria.
Every two months, we place books directly into the hands of children who would otherwise grow up without them.
But there are still many more children waiting for their first book.
We invite individuals, partners, and organizations to support this mission.
Your support can help us provide more books, reach more communities,
