*IDERA MARKET OJA OKE NEED URGENT ATTENTION*

OMSE Executives today Wednesday 25th March 2026 visited Idera Market, one of the largest markets in Mafoluku, Oshodi Lagos State, and were shocked by the deplorable conditions 😔.
Despite its importance as a hub for local commerce, the market lacks basic amenities and government attention. The visit revealed pressing needs that require immediate attention, including the absence of security measures and solar streetlights, leaving vendors and customers vulnerable to safety risks.

The market developers failed to fulfill their obligations, leaving the market incomplete and with significant infrastructure gaps 🚧.

Waste management is also a major concern, with poor disposal systems affecting the environment and health of traders and customers.

The OMSE Executives are sounding the alarm and calling on representatives from local government to the federal government to intervene and support the rehabilitation of Idera Market.

The lack of government attention is stark, and it's unacceptable that this market has been neglected for so long 😡.

OMSE Executives are urging authorities to take immediate action to address these issues and restore dignity to the market. We need security, proper infrastructure, and effective waste management systems in place now! 📢

OMSE Executives appeal to the government and stakeholders to work together to transform Idera Market into a thriving, safe, and sustainable space that benefits the community.

Let's join forces to make a difference and bring prosperity to Mafoluku!

*THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!*

The news of hoodlums attacking Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 1 again is really disturbing 😔. It's gotten to a point where the community feels like they're living in fear, and that's not okay. The fact that no arrests have been made is mind-boggling. It's like the perpetrators are above the law, and that's not something we can just sit back and accept.

The community is right to demand action from the government. Safety is a basic human right, and it's the government's responsibility to ensure citizens are protected. But it seems like Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 1 has been left to frown 😕.

The lack of response from representatives, from councillors to federal representatives, is deafening.

They're supposed to be the voices of the people, but it seems like they're not doing enough.

The people of Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 1 are crying out for help, and it's time their voices are heard loud and clear 📢.

The government needs to step up and take responsibility for the safety of its citizens. No more empty promises, no more excuses. The community needs action, and they need it now.

It's time for the representatives to put their words into action and show the community they care. The people of Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 1 deserve to live without fear of attacks and violence. It's time for justice to be served, and for the hoodlums to be brought to book 📚.

The community will not be silenced, and it's time the government listened.
Safety is not a privilege, it's a right, and it's time it's given to the people of Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 1 🙏.

*EMERGENCY APPEAL*

We are shocked and outraged by today's attack on Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 1. Over 100 masked and armed hoodlums invaded our community, terrorizing residents for two hours, robbing, ra**ng, and destroying properties worth millions. This heinous act has left our community traumatized and vulnerable.

The attack, which occurred on International Women's Day, is a stark reminder of our insecurity. We condemn this brutal assault and demand immediate action from authorities. Our lives are no longer safe, and we urgently need help.

We call on Hon Kehinde Oloyede-almaroof, Local Government Chairman, Hon Stephen Olukayode Ogundipe, and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to intervene and restore peace.

The people of Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 1 are crying out for protection and justice.

We urge residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies. We will not be intimidated or silenced.
Together, we can rebuild and secure our community.

We demand action now! 😡

*Oshodi Isolo Constituency 1-UNDER HOODLUM ATTACK*

The recent wave of hoodlum attacks across Owoseni Street, Inasa Street, Ayetoro Compound, Orile Oshodi, Ilesomi, Adekunke, Maboyoje, Ijaiye, Branco, Popoola, EyinOgun and surrounding areas in Oshodi‑Isolo Constituency 1 has left residents living in fear and disrupted daily life. Shops are closing early, children are hesitant to walk to school, and community gatherings have become tense.

The sheer frequency and boldness of these incidents show that the current security framework is overstretched and unable to protect citizens effectively.

We call on the Local Government Chairman, community leaders, traditional rulers, and all relevant stakeholders to urgently address this crisis.

It is imperative that the council convenes an emergency security meeting involving the Nigeria Police Force, the Neighbourhood Watch, and local vigilante groups to map out hotspots, share intelligence, and coordinate rapid response.

Additionally, resources should be allocated for street lighting, CCTV installation, and regular patrols in the most vulnerable neighborhoods.

Engaging youth through skill‑acquisition programs and community sports can also reduce the pool of potential recruits for criminal gangs.

To move forward, a joint task force comprising security agencies, community representatives, and local government officials must be established with clear terms of reference and accountability. Regular town‑hall meetings should be held to keep residents informed and to gather feedback on security measures.
By fostering collaboration, investing in preventive infrastructure, and empowering community members, Oshodi‑Isolo Constituency 1 can reclaim its streets from hoodlums and restore peace and confidence for all its residents.

Lecture Delivered Today During OMSE GENERAL MEETING.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Moral and values are the foundation upon which a crime-free society is built.

They serve as guiding principles that shape our behavior, influence our decisions, and determine our interactions with others. When individuals adhere to strong moral values such as honesty, respect, and empathy, they are more likely to make choices that promote the greater good, rather than engaging in destructive or criminal behavior.

In today's society, we often focus on punitive measures to address crime, but neglect the root causes of criminal behavior.

By instilling moral values and principles in individuals, especially from a young age, we can prevent crime from occurring in the first place.

Values like responsibility, self-discipline, and compassion can help individuals make positive contributions to society, rather than resorting to crime.

Moreover, a society with strong moral values is more likely to be cohesive, supportive, and harmonious.

When individuals respect and care for one another, they are less likely to engage in behavior that harms others. By promoting values like tolerance, forgiveness, and understanding, we can create a culture of peace and coexistence, where crime is not tolerated.

Let us prioritize the teaching and promotion of moral values in our homes, schools, and communities.

By doing so, we can build a society where individuals are guided by a strong sense of right and wrong, and where crime is a rare exception rather than a common occurrence.

To build a crime-free society with strong moral values, here are some key actions:
- *Promote moral education*: Integrate moral values into school curricula and community programs
- *Lead by example*: Adults and leaders should model good behavior and values
- *Encourage community engagement*: Foster a sense of community and neighborliness
- *Support vulnerable groups*: Provide help and resources for at-risk individuals, especially youth
- *Foster a culture of respect*: Encourage respect for law, authority, and each other
- *Report suspicious activities*: Work with law enforcement to prevent and address crime
- *Address root causes*: Tackle underlying issues like poverty, inequality, and lack of opportunities

The consequences of lacking moral values and crime in a society can be severe 😔:
- *Increased crime rates*: More violence, theft, and destructive behavior
- *Fear and mistrust*: Residents live in fear, and trust among community members breaks down
- *Social instability*: Communities become fragmented, and social cohesion suffers
- *Economic impact*: Crime deters investment, affects businesses, and increases costs for security and law enforcement
- *Youth corruption*: Young people may be drawn into crime or suffer from lack of positive role models
- *Strain on resources*: More funds are spent on dealing with crime, less on development

Together, we can create a crime-free society, where everyone can live in safety, dignity, and peace.

Brief History of OMSE

OMSE is an acronym for Oshodi, Mafoluku, Shogunle, and Ewu-Tuntun Communities, which together form Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I.

Initially, the association was known as Concerned Residents of OMSE, but during registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), the official name became Residents of OMSE.

The first OMSE meeting was held on 10th October 2022, following widespread agitation over the illegal increment by PSP/LAWMA operators. After the issue was raised at the CDA and CDC levels without resolution, OMSE decided to take decisive action in defense of residents’ interests.

Major Programs and Activities

29th February 2024: OMSE staged a peaceful protest at LAWMA Head Office, Ijora, coinciding with President Tinubu’s visit to Lagos.
Despite an unexpected emergency involving the Managing Director, Mr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, OMSE members maintained discipline. Notably, Muslim comrades observed Subuh (2pm) prayers by peacefully occupying the main gate.

This followed an earlier visit to the former MD, Mr. Ibrahim Odunbomi, who failed to act on the complaints.

10 additional CMB trucks

Operations Period: 10th March – 26th April 2024
