REPORT OF THE MEDICAL OUTREACH / HUMANITARIAN PROGRAM HELD BY Sadaqatun Jaariyah Foundation ON 13TH DECEMBER 2025 AT THE ADO EKITI CUSTODIAL CENTER, NIGERIA CORRECTIONAL SERVICE
Alhamdulillāh Rabbil ‘Ālamīn.
The medical outreach commenced with the arrival of the medical team at the venue at about 10:30 a.m. The team comprised Medical Doctors, Nurses, a Medical Laboratory Scientist, as well as Student Doctors and Nurses from the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado Ekiti and Volunteers from Health Volunteers Naija.
The outreach team was led by Dr. Babalola, a Consultant and the Head of the Accident and Emergency Department at EKSUTH, Ado Ekiti.
The program took place at the clinic of the Ado Ekiti Custodial Center. After setting up the necessary medical equipment and materials, inmates were seen lined up in two orderly rows outside the clinic, holding hands and waiting to be called in according to the numbers earlier assigned to them by the medical team.
The nurses attended to the inmates by checking their vital signs, including blood pressure, while laboratory tests were conducted by the Medical Laboratory Scientist. The results were subsequently interpreted by the doctors, after which appropriate medications were administered.
It is worthy of note that some officers in charge of the inmates also benefited from the medical outreach.
In total, 160 persons were attended to, comprising 133 male inmates, 17 female inmates, and 10 correctional officers.
A particularly touching moment was witnessing one of the female inmates carrying a baby, serving her jail term alongside the child, possibly having given birth while in custody. This deeply moved the entire team.
To further crown the success of the program, a donor gave us money to prepare delicious moin-moin and bread, which were shared among over 300 inmates.
The program was successfully concluded, and the team signed out of the Custodial Center at 4:45 p.m.
The Officer-in-Charge of the Custodial Center, alongside other staff and inmates, expressed profound appreciation for the kind gesture and humanitarian service rendered.
At the conclusion of the medical consultations, some essential drugs were donated to the clinic for the continued benefit of the inmates.
We thank Allah (SWT) for making the event a success. We also sincerely appreciate all our donors, especially Professor Uthman Mobolaji Dada of the College of Medicine, Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, who, in addition to providing accommodation and feeding for our members who travelled to Ekiti, also made available all the medical personnel who attended to the inmates.
We equally commend the efforts of Dr. Waheed Babalola, Chief Medical Officer, Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, who led the medical outreach team with dedication and professionalism. Special appreciation also goes to all the volunteers for their selflessness, commitment, and tireless service.
We pray that Allah (SWT) accepts these efforts as acts of ‘ibādah and rewards everyone abundantly with the best of rewards. Āmīn.
