We opened Sickle Santa 2026 with a target of supporting 100 warriors this year…

Less than 48 hours later, we had received 254 nominations.

254 stories.
254 people hoping for medications, support, and a little stability.

While nominations are now closed, the need is clearly bigger than we imagined, and we’re trying to make room for more warriors.

POV: You’re going to the hospital… but you’re bringing everything.

For many sickle cell warriors, a hospital visit doesn’t start at the hospital.
It starts with preparation.

Not just mentally, but physically.

Packing drugs.
Extra drugs.
Water.
Food.
Even basic supplies you’d expect to find there.

Because experience has taught you one thing:
it’s better to come prepared than be caught off guard.

This is the reality for many.
Quiet. Normalised. Often unseen.
