Exactly 25yrs today, Group Captain Samuel Ethnan was called to glory but the reflection of his impact is still evident in Sam Ethnan Air Force Base, Ikeja till date🕊️

Although late Group Captain Sam Ethnan was Commander, NAF Base Ikeja for only 10 months, he is the only distinguished officer that a Nigerian Air Force base is named after, a true hero. Here are some the exceptional things he did during his short period👇🏼
- Sam Ethnan Air Force Base, Ikeja won the neatest base in Africa during his tenure
- ⁠He switched occupants of dirty houses/blocks with the clean ones to enforce neatness. That why they called him “Commander pack-out”
- ⁠Introduced flower planting to beautify the base
- ⁠He established the Oputa Committee to resolve family disputes
- ⁠Ensured that there are round-abouts close to the Base and police station along Murtala Muhammed Airports road
- ⁠Gave gifts to new born babies of airmen

Group Captain Sam Ethnan stood for honor, discipline and unwavering service. As you can see, his impact continues to echo through the lives he touched, the community he served and the nation he helped defend 💪

As part of our Variety Night today, there will be a heartfelt Open Mic Session in memory of late Group Captain Sam Ethnan; a space for tributes, soulful songs, powerful poetry/spoken word, energetic rap presentations, etc 🕯️🤩

Earlier today, excos of Base Airtertainment alongside a representative from Ecobarter held a brief strategic meeting with the Base Commander, Air Cmdr Imam to advance discussions on sustainable development within the Base ⭐️♻️

Building on their active participation at the 2025 Base Blocks Carnival & Awards where they trained base youths on waste recycling skills and showcased innovative waste-to-value solutions, the engagement focused on structured collaboration around waste recycling, sustainability-driven skills acquisition for Base youths and other mutually beneficial initiatives 🤝

This forward-looking initiative reinforces the Base Commander’s vision to provide innovative solutions for curbing indiscriminate waste disposal with its environmental & health impacts, while aligning with the broader mandate of the Nigerian Air Force in fostering a safe, clean, and progressive environment. It also supports the objectives of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in responsible consumption, climate action, and sustainable communities🤍

Together, these efforts mark a significant step toward building a cleaner, more empowered and environmentally responsible Base community🌱♻️

It was a moment of honour and forward thinking as a Lifetime Achievement Award from the 2nd Base Blocks Carnival & Awards was presented by our President and Director, Corporate Relations to Hon. (AVM (rtd) Rufus Adeniyi Ojuawo who’s serving as a Member of the Federal House of Representatives representating Ekiti South Federal Constituency 1 and Deputy Chairman House of Representatives Committee of Air Force at his office in the House of Reps. Wing, National Assembly Complex, Abuja💪

The engagement also opened discussions on future areas of collaborations most especially on initiatives aimed at capacity development and leadership trainings for base youths💫

Thank you for having us, for the positive inspiring remarks and support Sir❤️ We truly appreciate you and are highly inspired to continue our mission of driving sustainable empowerment initiatives and fostering inclusion for base youths🤝💕
