Following the devastating rainstorm on March 10th, the Executive Committee provides this detailed update on the relief and support mobilized for our affected people as of March 16th.
Private people who responded swiftly
1. Corporate Relief from Golden Legacy Resorts & Hotel Ltd
As part of their corporate social responsibility, the hotel generously donated N5,930,000 to support the victims. Based on the data painstakingly collated across our three quarters, the funds were allocated via online transfers to 103 affected houses:
89 households with minor damages received N50,000 each.
14 households with major damages received N100,000 each.
4 data collators received N20,000 each for their support.
2. SEMA/NEMA Official Assessment
On Saturday, March 14th, four officials from the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) arrived in our community to conduct a formal family-by-family damage assessment.
They were mobilized with N120,000, with the community providing accommodation and feeding.
Our youth worked hand-in-hand with them to ensure accuracy.
The team has returned to Lokoja to process the reports for onward transmission to NEMA Abuja. In hopes of securing federal government intervention.
3. EDU Emergency Support Appeal Fund
Our appeal fund has started receiving heartfelt contributions from patriotic Omo-Egga at home and in the diaspora. A special thank you to our early donors:
