The Alfred Komolafe Educational Foundation (AKEF) is a registered nonprofit that is committed to providing resources to students, teachers, and school administrators in the public school sector with the intent of bridging gaps in the quality of education between public and private schools. We're focused on working with our educational partners in the public schools to foster a more comprehensive p
aradigm that equals or exceeds private school standards. We strongly believe that bridging this educational gap is key to providing our future leaders the necessary tools to compete and excel in our global economy. The Alfred Komolafe Educational Foundation (AKEF) was founded by Alfred Komolafe a former public school attendee and staunch supporter of quality public school education whose passion fuels AKEF's resolve to bring about change to a steadily declining public school system. As a result of benefiting from an efficient public school system before the decline, it was impossible to sit idly aside and witness a flourishing private school system at the expense of a weakening public school infrastructure. Hence, AKEF was created to inject positive change to the public school system which is overwhelmed with some of the following deficiencies: inadequate hygienic facilities (i.e. working toilet laboratories), limited access to safe drinking water, outdated and/or unsafe playground facilities, outdated and/or limited technological tools and resources, unstable utility connections (i.e gas, electric), outdated furniture and/or facilities, and limited access to quality teaching and learning materials. As the quality of education has declined in the public sector, the private schools have continued to grow and thrive, becoming the primary source for quality education. Due to the high expense associated with private school enrollment, quality education is available only to those who can afford to pay the exorbitant fees. Privileged Nigerians now send their children to private schools; while the less privileged have no such option. In the current educational landscape where one is systematically required to attend private school to succeed in today's economy, AKEF is positioned to assist in bridging the gap by increasing resources to public schools which will position current and future leaders to flourish in today's global economy. There are many brilliant students in the public schools who can and will excel if they have the same opportunities as their counterparts in private schools.
