On 20th February 2026, our team at WeGirls Development Foundation stepped into Gunki Community, Tsagem/Takushe Ward, Mani LGA, for an important milestone our Community Entry and Facility Baseline Assessment (Q9).

This wasn’t just a visit.
It was a commitment to transparency, partnership, and stronger malaria service delivery.
Under the Community-Led Monitoring and Accountability on Malaria Commodities project, implemented in collaboration with ACOMIN and funded by the The Global Fund, we engaged stakeholders, strengthened relationships with the facility team, and reinforced community ownership of health systems.
When communities monitor, systems improve.
When systems improve, lives are saved.

International Day of Education | Community Engagement & Advocacy

To commemorate the International Day of Education, WeGirls Development Foundation engaged male parents and community leaders in Janbango (Katsina LGA) and Batagarawa, facilitating meaningful discussions on the importance of educating children particularly the girl child and the critical role of fathers in supporting access, retention, and learning outcomes.

In Mani LGA, we leveraged our existing Safe Spaces to engage female parents, creating a trusted platform for dialogue on education, caregiving responsibilities, and strengthening family-level support for children’s education.

As part of the commemoration, we also conducted advocacy visits to key community gatekeepers, reinforcing collective responsibility and leadership commitment toward promoting education and protecting the right of every child to learn.

These engagements reflect our commitment to community-led, inclusive, and sustainable education programming.

WeGirls Development Foundation started the year 2025 on a high note, marked by both achievements and bittersweet moments. We successfully rounded up our Safe Spaces for out-of-school adolescent girls across four LGAs and eight communities. The progress we witnessed has been nothing short of inspiring we started with girls who didn’t even know how to hold a pencil, and today, they can read and write!
This beautiful six-month project has now come to an end, and while we celebrate the impact, we can’t help but wish for continued funding to sustain and expand this transformative work. Beyond literacy, the girls also acquired essential life skills, equipping them with confidence and resilience for the future.
To our incredible girls and dedicated mentors—your hard work and determination have been remarkable. We are so proud of you! Well done, WeGirls Development Foundation!

The joy that comes with learning is unique and transformative. As we continue to empower out-of-school adolescent girls in their safe spaces, we’re witnessing something truly remarkable.our girls have started reading books on their own! Each page they turn reflects a newfound confidence, curiosity, and independence.

These little steps we take to empower the girl child through education are more than just lessons; they’re building blocks for a sustainable and safe environment. Through education, we are nurturing a generation of resilient, knowledgeable young women ready to create positive change in their communities. Each word they read brings them closer to a future where they can dream, grow, and lead with purpose.

“We Girls Development Foundation is excited to announce that we have commenced the Safe Space exercise in Mani Local Government Area!

Safe Spaces are crucial for adolescent girls as they provide:

A supportive environment for socialization and connection
A platform for self-expression and empowerment
Access to mentorship and guidance
A haven for emotional support and well-being
Opportunities for skill-building and personal growth

By creating Safe Spaces, we aim to foster a sense of belonging, confidence, and resilience among adolescent girls, enabling them to navigate life’s challenges and reach their full potential.
