Have you ever seen a mad child?

Like a child who roams the streets, lost in their mind like a mad man or woman?

It’s rare, isn’t it?

That’s because early care makes all the difference.
Children are protected by nurturing environments, quick attention to their needs, and early intervention when something seems off.

The same principle applies to their oral health.
Bad teeth don’t happen overnight.
They grow from neglect, fear, and lack of access.
But when we care early, we prevent the pain later.

This Children’s Day, let’s remember:
Strong smiles begin with early care.
And every child deserves one.

From all of us at Wellness Smiles,
Happy Children’s Day!

To every child out there—
In cities and in villages,
In well-served and under-served communities,
Those raised in love and those still waiting to experience it—
We see you. We celebrate you. And your smile matters to us.

Happy Children’s Day once more!

Happy Birthday to the Heart Behind the Smiles!

Today, we celebrate our founder and visionary, Dr. Akinlade Akinwaleola, whose birthday wish is as selfless as his mission — to mark the day by giving back through a community dental outreach!

Dr. Akinlade’s commitment to oral health and community service is the reason Wellness Smiles Initiative exists — to turn every day, even birthdays, into opportunities for impact.

Sir, your passion, humility, and leadership inspire all of us. Thank you for building a movement of health, hope, and healing. We wish you long life, renewed strength, and endless smiles in return for the many you’ve created.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Akinlade!
Let’s keep making wellness go the distance.

When our project is scheduled for a weekend, we make it a point to visit the school earlier in the week. This not only allows us to reach more members of the community but also helps us connect with key individuals—teachers, parents, and local leaders—who play a vital role in making our work effective.

At Wellness Smiles Health Initiative, we believe every child deserves a healthy smile—and that begins with early, consistent oral care. Among vulnerable groups, the girl child stands at a unique intersection of health neglect and social expectation. Cultural biases, limited access to dental care, and lack of awareness often leave her oral health overlooked—yet the consequences are lifelong.

Girls are more likely to become caregivers in the future, making their health literacy essential for generations to come. That’s why we’re committed to designing girl-focused oral hygiene workshops in schools—like the one coming up at Ranagaza Government Girls Secondary School this May.

Because when she smiles with confidence, the world changes.

This May 18th is extra special for us at Wellness Smiles Health Initiative. It’s not just the date of our next outreach—it’s also the birthday of our visionary founder, Akinwale Akinlade , who has turned life’s challenges into purposeful action for the underserved.

To celebrate, we're continuing with ā€œProject 44ā€ with another stop in our mission to bring oral health awareness to all 44 local governments in Kano State—one community at a time.

Next up: Rangaza Public School, Kano.
We’ll be sharing toothbrushes, toothpastes, and practical nutrition guidance, helping children protect their smiles and their futures.

The passion behind this project comes from a heart full of gratitude—a heart that recognizes being intentionally positioned to serve and empower vulnerable populations in Nigeria.

Want to celebrate with us in a meaningful way?
Join us. Support us. Message us and ask, ā€œHow can I/we help?ā€
We’ll be thrilled to show you how.

Because every smile matters.

We are happy for Smile of Mann!
But we are even happier to be back!

It's been a while, but we’re thrilled to return—especially with exciting news in children’s oral health! The Smile of Mann toothbrushing programme is expanding, protecting more young smiles from tooth decay. With fluoride varnish, school-based brushing, and parent support, fewer children on the Island will suffer painful extractions.

Preventive care works! That’s why we say: Come, let’s build a future of healthier, happier smiles—starting here in Nigeria, from the North!

Do you want to be part of a system driving effective, preventive oral health measures in Africa?
