*NISafetyE Launches Minimum Mandatory Training (MMT) – 1 September 2026*
The *Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers (NISafetyE),* a Division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), is pleased to announce the official launch of its *Minimum Mandatory Training (MMT) Programme,* commencing *1 September 2026.*
The MMT represents an important step in NISafetyE's commitment to strengthening professional competence, technical knowledge and engineering judgement in the management of *Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) risks.*
*Building Competence in Safety Engineering*
The programme is designed primarily to support the continuing professional development of *NISafetyE members,* while also being open to *organisations, non-members and other professionals* who are desirous of developing or strengthening their knowledge, skills and practical experience in *safety engineering and technical safety.*
The MMT provides structured learning that connects safety management principles with engineering systems, equipment integrity, risk management, basic science, human factors and practical workplace applications.
It is particularly relevant to:
- Engineers across different disciplines and safety engineers;
- HSE practitioners, officers, supervisors and managers;
- Science and engineering graduates;
- Technical supervisors and project personnel;
- Construction professionals;
- Maintenance, facilities, operations and production personnel;
- Environmental and compliance professionals;
- Government, regulatory and public infrastructure personnel; and
- Other professionals whose responsibilities involve safety, engineering or risk-management decisions.
The programme is intended to help participants move beyond general safety awareness towards a stronger understanding of the *technical and engineering principles that underpin effective risk identification, assessment, control and management.*
*Opportunities for Approved Training Providers (ATPs)*
As part of the rollout of the MMT and the wider expansion of NISafetyE's professional development programmes, the Institution is also inviting suitably qualified organisations to apply for registration as *NISafetyE Approved Training Providers (ATPs).*
Successful ATPs will be authorised, subject to NISafetyE's applicable approval requirements and quality assurance arrangements, to deliver the *Minimum Mandatory Training (MMT)* and other *NISafetyE-approved courses.*
This initiative is intended to expand access to quality-assured safety engineering education while maintaining consistent standards in course delivery, trainer competence, learning outcomes and professional development.
