Building Foundations Beyond Classrooms: Why Financial Literacy Matters!

At Young Support Foundation, we believe that empowering a child means giving them the tools to navigate the world with confidence. While schools teach us how to read and write, Financial Literacy teaches our children and teens how to dream, plan, and achieve.

Why start now?

Smart Habits Early: Teaching kids the difference between "needs" and "wants" builds a lifetime of disciplined spending.

Confidence & Independence: When teens understand budgeting and saving, they gain the self-reliance needed to make informed life choices.

Breaking the Cycle: Financial education is a powerful tool to break the cycle of poverty, ensuring our youth are prepared for the challenges of adulthood.

Whether it’s a small savings jar for a child or a first budget for a teenager, every lesson is a step toward a secure and thriving future.

Let’s invest in their minds today so they can lead tomorrow!

Transforming lives, not just feeding them.
Almajiri children deserve more than temporary relief, they deserve education, opportunity, and a future.

Our reform initiative focuses on creating sustainable systems: schools that teach, communities that support, and policies that ensure every child has a chance to thrive.

Together, we can shift from charity to empowerment, from dependency to opportunity, and from neglect to progress.

Every Almajiri child on the street is evidence of a system that is not working as it should.

At YSF, we believe reform must go beyond sympathy. It must include accountability, oversight, and measurable action. That is why we are engaging the Almajiri issue through research, advocacy, stakeholder dialogue, and public awareness by ensuring that commitments translate into real outcomes for children.

This is not about blame.
It is about responsibility.

Almajiri reform must move from good intentions to good governance.

The blueprint is ready. Now, let’s get to work!

We want to make sure every young person we reach has two things: a mentor to lean on and a platform to speak from.

Through Education and Advocacy, we’re helping the next generation take the lead. Who’s with us?

📢 Education is a Right, Not a Privilege !

The Northern Elders Forum is turning up the heat on Northern Nigeria governors to follow through on their pledge to collaborate with the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children Education With over 700,000 children already mapped for enrollment in 2026, we cannot afford more delays. It is time for our leaders to move beyond signing communiqués and start opening the school doors. We demand that every governor provides the necessary infrastructure and funding to ensure these vulnerable children are moved from the streets into classrooms immediately.

While we push for enrollment, peace-building organizations are now calling for the complete abolition of the Almajiri system, citing it as a major driver of regional insecurity and social exclusion. We believe that to truly secure our future, we must replace outdated models with a unified, modern educational system that gives every child a fair shot at life.

Join us in calling for an end to systemic neglect, our children deserve better!

Land of Hope

Do you remember Samuel ?

We rescued him more than 3 years ago. He was wearing a torn t-shirt with LOVE written on it.

We found him living inside the bush! Samuel’s father accused him of being a witch and tried to kill him.

He cut his head with a machete. Samuel fought back and escaped the attack. He ran into the bush where he was hiding.

Since then we have searched for his father but not been able to trace his whereabouts.

But we never give up. Yesterday we went on a mission to find him. While driving around in his community Samuel suddenly saw his father on a bike and we followed him.

He was not aware we were at his tail and he took us straight to Samuel’s grandparents’ house.

When the father saw us he ran away. Seriously he jumped of his bike and ran into the bush!

Samuel’s grandparents were in the house and they were shocked and so happy to see Samuel again.

Samuel and his father were not living with the grandparents. So when their son came home one day without Samuel and told them what he had done they threw him out!

We sat for hours and talked with Samuel’s grandparents. They really care for Samuel and he told me that they always treated him with love and kindness,

They were so ashamed of their son’s behavior. We agreed to come back to talk to Samuel’s father.

He needs to see Samuel and know that he is still alive ! To hear that his son is one of the most brilliant students in his class and that he is not a witch !

One significant thing about Samuel’s case is that from his grandparents house you can see a massive residence.

It’s where the Governor of Akwa Ibom lives.

Reunification is a long process but it starts somewhere and with a lot of home visits and counseling there is room for hope ✨

Love from Anja ❤️

About: A Day With The Orphans

A Day With The Orphans is a yearly event born out of love, compassion, and a deep sense of responsibility to the most vulnerable among orphans. It is a special day dedicated to putting genuine smiles on the faces of children who, despite their difficult beginnings, deserve to feel valued, celebrated, and loved. This event is more than just a gathering it is a movement. It’s a reminder that even in a world filled with hardship, kindness still exists. On this day, we take these precious children to places they’ve only dreamed of parks, amusement centres, or anywhere they feel joy. We feed them their favourite meals, serve them treats, and surround them with laughter and happiness. Most importantly, we listen to them, laugh with them, and show them that they matter. Beyond the fun and food, we give them gifts, clothes, books, and other essentials things that make their day brighter and their hearts fuller. But more than material things, we give them love, attention, and memories that last a lifetime. Every participant in this event is a volunteer a selfless giver of time, resources, and energy. *A Day With The Orphans* is not just about charity it’s about humanity. It’s about reaching out, holding hands, and saying You are not alone. Together, let’s continue to create unforgettable moments for these amazing kids. Because every child deserves at least one day of pure joy and together, we can make that happen.

Are You Ready? The Time Is Close! 💚

The YSF Foundation is gearing up for a special and impactful day " A Day with the Orphans 2026". It’s a moment to share love, joy, and compassion with those who deserve to smile the most. The day will be filled with fun activities, laughter, games, and heartfelt interactions that remind us that true happiness lies in giving and caring for one another.

This year’s program carries a deeper meaning as we also honor the memory of our beloved brother, Comrade Iguda. In his remembrance, we’ll be planting trees symbols of life, growth, and legacy. Each tree will stand as a living tribute to his kindness, commitment, and the positive impact he made in our lives and community. 🌳

As the day draws near, we invite everyone to join hands with us to make it memorable. Let’s come together to spread hope, plant love, and build lasting memories. The time is close and together, we rise for humanity. 💚

🌍✨ World Humanitarian Day ✨🌍

Today, we stand together as a family under Young Support Foundation to remind every youth, every orphan, every child with a dream, and every humanitarian with a heart of service .. you matter, your voice matters, your future matters. 💙

To the youths .. you are the strength of tomorrow. Your courage, creativity, and resilience are the keys to building a brighter future.

To the orphans and little ones, you are not forgotten. Your dreams are valid, your smiles inspire us, and your growth is our responsibility. 🌱

To the humanitarians .. your kindness lights the darkest paths. Every act of giving, no matter how small, becomes a ripple that changes lives.

On this day, let’s choose love over indifference, hope over despair, and action over silence.
Together, we can build a world where no child is left behind, where every youth is empowered, and where humanity wins.

🤝💡 Let us continue to support, uplift, and inspire .. because being human means being there for one another.

Born To Street 08

- Asmau Abubakar

You gave birth to them then sent them far,
Claiming they seek knowledge, but left the door ajar.
Parents! Where is your mercy, your care?
Even if he's not an orphan..
why act unaware?

He clutches a bowl, begging to live,
Not for knowledge, but for what food may give.
Some are orphans, yes, with no one to stand,
But many were dumped by their parents’ own hand.

You say you love them, yet you left them cold,
In rain, in hunger, with no hand to hold.
You trusted them to teachers with no guide or grace,
Now their lives are lost, caught in life's harsh race.

You parents chasing the world and its games,
You are to blame! Fear Allah, remember your names.
Knowledge should not come through pain and abuse,
If you truly care, be the light they use.

And we who see, must not stay mute,
The Almajiri is a child.. fragile and cute.
Let’s lift him up, restore his worth,
And help him rise beyond the dirt.
