Venue: Tsakuwa Town, Dawakin Kudu LGA, Kano State, Nigeria
Focus: Advocacy to Identify Tuberculosis (TB) in the Community
Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the major public health challenges in our communities. To strengthen community awareness and promote early detection, the Health Awareness Campaign Movement is conducting an advocacy program in Tsakuwa town.
Key Objective:
To sensitize the community on recognizing TB symptoms, particularly among children and adults presenting with:
Cough lasting two weeks or more
Persistent fever
Weight loss and night sweats
Target Group:
Families and households in Tsakuwa town
Parents and caregivers
Community leaders, youth, and women associations
Activities:
1. Community sensitization through town hall meetings and door-to-door awareness.
2. Health education on TB prevention, symptoms, and treatment availability.
3. Encouraging early reporting of suspected TB cases to nearby health facilities.
4. Partnership with health workers for screening and referrals.
Expected Outcomes:
Increased awareness of TB symptoms among residents.
Early identification of suspected TB cases, especially in children.
Improved community participation in TB prevention and treatment.
Reduced stigma and misconceptions about TB.
