Strengthening aDSM for Safer, More Person-Centred DR-TB Care

How can we strengthen adverse drug reaction monitoring while ensuring that people receiving treatment for drug-resistant tuberculosis are heard, supported, and protected?

Join RAHAMA as we participate in an upcoming webinar convened by KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation to explore practical experiences, lessons learned, and innovative approaches to strengthening active drug safety monitoring and management (aDSM) within TB programmes.

The webinar will bring together experiences from Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Mozambique, highlighting how health systems, pharmacovigilance structures, community organisations, and civil society partners are working together to improve the detection, reporting, and management of adverse events as new DR-TB medicines and shorter treatment regimens are introduced.

For us at RAHAMA, the conversation is particularly important because safer TB treatment is not only about medicines, it is also about systems, communities, information, responsiveness, and ensuring that people affected by TB have a voice in their care.

As part of our ongoing WASH activities under the ECHO HIP project, we continue to promote environmental sanitation, proper waste disposal and good handwashing practices across Zango and Kankia LGAs of Katsina State.

These activities engage community members on simple hygiene practices and the importance of keeping their surroundings clean.

Community members, partners and other relevant stakeholders took part, supporting efforts to promote better hygiene practices within the communities.

With support from European Union in Nigeria, we continue to strengthen community awareness around WASH and hygiene.

EVERY STEP COUNTED FOR SICKLE CELL AWARENESS!

Yesterday, the Walk in Kano State brought together community members, partners, volunteers, advocates and supporters in a shared commitment to raising awareness, promoting understanding and standing in solidarity with people living with sickle cell and their families. 🎗️

The walk created a platform for meaningful conversations around sickle cell, the importance of accurate information, knowing your genotype and making informed health decisions.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Kano Emirate Council for its invaluable support, alongside our partners, volunteers, community stakeholders and everyone who came out to walk with us. Your presence and commitment helped make the walk a meaningful and impactful awareness activity. 🤝❤️

Every step was a reminder that awareness begins with conversation, understanding grows through accurate information, and stronger communities are built when we come together.

Together, we continue to promote greater awareness, understanding and support for people living with sickle cell.
