87% OF INTERCEPTED CODEINE WAS IN NIGERIA OR BANGLADESH

Codeine seized in kilograms (2019–2023):
1 🇳🇬Nigeria — 293,335
2 🇧🇩Bangladesh — 225,701
3 🇮🇳India — 58,889
4 🇲🇾Malaysia — 13,896
5 🇨🇦Canada — 2,445

While 🇳🇬Nigeria topped the list, the real story is the combined dominance of the top two. Together, 🇳🇬Nigeria and 🇧🇩Bangladesh represented 86.7% of the total volume.

The gap between these two and the rest is massive.
🇳🇬Nigeria intercepted 5× more than 🇮🇳India.
🇧🇩Bangladesh intercepted nearly 4× more than 🇮🇳India.

For every 10 kg of codeine intercepted across these top nations, 9 kg was found in either 🇳🇬Nigeria or 🇧🇩Bangladesh.
