Commemorating World Health Day: Promoting Hygiene and Family Well-being in Kaduna State

In commemoration of World Health Day (April 7, 2026), the Interfaith Mediation Centre (IMC) carried out a sensitization across Kaduna North and Chikun LGAs of Kaduna State, engaging street vendors and members of the public on critical health and social practices.

The outreach focused on promoting proper hand hygiene and sanitation, recognizing the high exposure of street vendors due to the nature of their work. Participants were equipped with practical knowledge on maintaining cleanliness to prevent the spread of diseases and protect both themselves and their customers.

To reinforce these messages, IMC distributed free detergent, hand gloves, and head caps to support improved hygiene practices. In addition, FCC project flyers were shared to reinforce key messages and ensure continued awareness beyond the sensitization sessions.

Beyond hygiene, the activity also advanced key messages under the FCC Project, emphasizing the importance of shifting harmful social norms through spousal communication. Participants were further sensitized on the benefits of Antenatal Care (ANC) and Child Birth Spacing (CBS) in improving maternal and child health outcomes.

This initiative reflects IMC’s integrated approach to peacebuilding and community development, where health awareness, dialogue, and behavioral change are leveraged to build safer, healthier, and more resilient communities.

Throwback | 16 Days of Activism: Rally Against Digital Gender Violence in Kaduna

Although the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence have officially concluded, our commitment to ending violence against women and girls especially in digital spaces continues.

During the 16 Days, the Side by Side Kaduna Branch on Interfaith and Traditional Leaders for Gender Justice, in collaboration with the Interfaith Mediation Centre (IMC), organized a public awareness rally across Kaduna City to draw attention to the growing threat of digital gender violence.

The rally brought together faith leaders, traditional leaders, youth, and community members, united by a shared message: online spaces must be safe, respectful, and inclusive for women and girls. Through placards, chants, and community engagement, participants called for an end to online harassment, cyberbullying, and all forms of technology-facilitated abuse.

This initiative reinforced the important role that interfaith and traditional leadership play in shaping values, promoting accountability, and educating communities on respectful digital behavior and existing legal protections.
While the campaign period has ended, the work continues. Ending digital gender violence requires sustained advocacy, education, and collective responsibility online and offline.
Together, we remain committed to building a society where dignity, justice, and peace are upheld for all.
