Legacy Two: The KATT Country Issue 2025 Mapping: Youth Perspectives on Peace, Poverty, and the Intersectional Divide — presenting youth-led insights across 25 African countries.

Legacy Three: The Resilience Paradox: Education, Energy and the Economic Reality of Zambian Youth — a deep-dive exploration into how energy, education, and economic structures shape daily life and resilience.

Together, these publications connect broad continental patterns with focused, country-level realities to transform research findings into actionable policy dialogue and collaboration.

Breastfeeding gives a child the healthiest start in life. But a mother's success depends on the support around her. If she lacks paid maternity leave, a quiet space at work, or guidance from healthcare workers, she faces an uphill battle.

This World Breastfeeding Week, the focus is on scaling up what works. From hospital rooms to office desks and family living rooms, every mother deserves a network of support that protects her choice to breastfeed.

Investing in breastfeeding is one of the smartest decisions a country can make. It protects children's health, saves money, and strengthens our economy. We don't need to reinvent the wheel, we just need governments and businesses to fund the programs that are already proven to work.

When the news is full of division and conflict, friendship feels like a breath of fresh air. You don't need power or wealth to build peace. All you need is the willingness to see a stranger as a fellow human being.

Friendship is especially powerful among young people. It can easily cross boundaries of language, religion, and culture. It teaches us to listen before we judge and to stay close even when things get tough. Understanding others isn't a hard goal, it's a daily habit that says, "Your happiness matters to me too."

At EWEI, we believe that true peace isn't just created in government halls or through formal treaties. Peace is built every single day in the quiet trust we share with the people around us.

Imagine applying for a job, moving to a new place, and then having your passport taken away only to be locked in a room and forced to scam people online all day. This nightmare is happening right now to thousands of young people.

Human trafficking is evolving into cybercrime. Dangerous crime gangs are using fake online ads to lure people in. Once trapped, these victims are forced to commit financial fraud under threat of violence. African youths are especially targeted, making up nearly a third of cross-border trafficking victims.

According to UNODC - United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime :

- 74% of traffickers operate within organized crime groups.
- In 2022, victims from 162 nationalities were trafficked to 128 different countries.
- About 70% of those investigated, prosecuted and convicted for trafficking in 2022 were men.
- African victims were the most widely trafficked group. They accounted for 31% of cross-border trafficking flows.

On , EWEI is calling for stronger laws and better cooperation between countries. Police and governments must work together across borders to dismantle these cyber-crime gangs, rescue the victims, and bring the criminals to justice.

Imagine having a secret weapon against a deadly disease, but not using it for everyone who needs it. That is the situation with viral hepatitis today. Hepatitis causes severe liver damage, yet we already possess the medical tools to prevent, treat, and even cure it.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), over 287 million people are living with chronic hepatitis, and more than a million die each year. Too many babies miss their first critical vaccine at birth. The biggest problem isn't science, it’s access. Shame, high costs, and weak health systems keep life-saving care out of reach for everyday people.

The 2026 campaign “Hepatitis: Let’s break it down” reminds us that no one should suffer from a preventable disease. When governments invest in free testing, vaccines, and affordable medicine, we can wipe out hepatitis for good. Let’s break down the barriers and save lives!

Today, July 25, the world celebrates the International Day for Women and Girls of African Descent.

This year's focus is on "The Right to Health — a fundamental right still denied," along with the power of women's leadership.

When a mother goes to give birth, or a young girl seeks medical care, her race and gender should never stand between her and life-saving treatment. Yet, for millions of women and girls of African descent, systemic racism makes quality health care almost impossible to reach.

These health gaps are not permanent; we can fix them! Governments must rebuild health systems to treat every woman with respect. We must collect clear data that shows these inequalities, and ensure African women have a seat at the table to design the health programs that affect their lives. Health care is not a favour; it is a human right.

On this International Day for Women and Girls of African Descent, Kabilun Africa Think Tank (KATT) is calling out the hidden inequalities in our hospitals, schools, and workplaces. When we ignore these barriers, women suffer in silence. But when we invest in their health and leadership, entire communities thrive.
