Commemorating the 2024 International Day of the Girl Child

Today, Youth Initiative For Sustainable Human Development In Africa (YiSHDA), in partnership with Spotless Foundation, proudly joins the world in celebrating the International Day of the Girl Child* with the theme,"Girls' Vision for the Future."

As part of our commitment to empowering girls and ensuring they have the tools they need for a brighter tomorrow, we are hosting a one-day event focused on Menstrual Hygiene Management.

This initiative aims to provide education, resources, and support to young girls, empowering them with the knowledge they need for healthy and confident futures. Together, we are building a future where every girl has the opportunity to thrive, with dignity and respect.

Every woman deserves access to menstrual hygiene.

Menstruation is a natural and phenomenon in every lady.

No one should be prevented from accessing menstrual products due to poverty.

One of the fundamentals of human rights is Menstrual equity in the society,together we can work to end period poverty.

Period poverty is a silent crisis affecting millions of women and girls worldwide, It is not a respecter of poverty, but poverty is a respecter of human endeavors towards fighting the menace.
Together we can ensure the availability of menstrual products among vulnerable girls.

Period should never be a barrier to education, friendship, employment, or opportunity.

Female reproductive organ is the gateway where every human passes through to this physical world.

Menstrual cycle is period where the cycle physiologically changes.

During this period, the organ is prone to infections that could lead to reproductive threats to the individual if not well managed.

@ CAHS-Initiative is on the move to join in the fight against period poverty by padding a girl child.

PAD A GIRL is an activity where girls are educated plus sensitized about reproductive hygiene.

We call on other individuals, stake holders, government parastatals, NGOs to support the fight in mitigation of such poverty among Adolescent girl child.

AFRICA MPOX OUTBREAK:

Help us contain the spread of this deadly disease

On 14 August, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the surge of mpox (monkeypox) cases a Public Health Emergency of International Concern, with children under 5 years of age facing the highest risk of death, and pregnant woman especially vulnerable.

Children are the most vulnerable and the most affected by the deadly mpox outbreak.

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is the epicentre of the crisis, but there are cases reported in neighbouring countries and others elsewhere on the continent: Central African Republic, Cameroon, Chad, Nigeria, the Republic of Congo, Cote d'Ivoire and Liberia.

UNICEF is on the ground saving the lives of children, expanding health facilities, training health-workers, supplying medicine, working with the community to build awareness and preventing the spread to other countries.
In line with this, CAHS-Initiative is on the move to mitigate against the said menace.
