Building peaceful and inclusive communities requires more than good intentions. It requires continuous engagement with the people and institutions closest to the communities we serve.
It was in this spirit that Gender Awareness Trust (G*T) paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Jema’a Local Government Area, Hon. Peter Tanko Dogara, to strengthen collaboration around peacebuilding, inclusion and community participation.
Led by Mr. Joel Olusayo Adegboyega, the G*T delegation presented the Chairman with souvenirs and a report highlighting the organisation’s activities and engagements across communities.
The visit provided an opportunity to reflect on the importance of working together with local leadership to create communities where people can participate, different voices can be heard, and issues can be addressed through dialogue before they grow into deeper conflicts.
Chairman Dogara appreciated G*T for its work and for engaging the Local Government leadership as part of its activities. He also reaffirmed his support for initiatives that promote peace, inclusion and constructive engagement across Jema’a.
For G*T, meaningful peace is built through partnership. It is built when communities, government, civil society, women, young people and other stakeholders have the opportunity to contribute to the decisions and conversations that shape their lives.
Through continued engagement and collaboration, G*T remains committed to supporting communities where peace, inclusion and participation are not just ideals, but part of everyday life.
