CLEAN UP A GIRL CHILD INITIATIVE @4

Clean Up a Girl Child Initiative is a remarkable organization that has been working tirelessly to uplift and empower young girls by addressing critical issues related to menstrual hygiene and puberty education. This initiative is situated in Kaduna State, Nigeria, and has made significant strides in improving the lives of countless girls.The core mission of the Clean Up a Girl Child Initiative is to create a world where every girl, regardless of her socioeconomic background, has access to proper menstrual hygiene resources and education. By doing so, the organization aims to empower girls to confidently navigate the challenges of puberty and adolescence, ensuring their health, dignity, and overall well-being. we have reached out to 4,097 girls at 16 different secondary schools , within 4 years from the inception of the organization, all these projects took place within southern kaduna.
Providing menstrual pads to girls in school has several social benefits and impacts:
Boosted Self-Esteem: Having access to menstrual pads boosts girls' self-esteem by allowing them to manage their periods discreetly and with confidence, reducing embarrassment and anxiety.
Health and Hygiene: Menstrual pads contribute to better menstrual hygiene practices, reducing the risk of infections and health issues associated with using unsanitary materials as alternatives.
Empowerment: Providing menstrual pads empowers girls by acknowledging their needs and supporting their overall well-being. This empowerment can have a positive ripple effect on their confidence and aspirations.
Breaking Taboos: By openly addressing menstruation and providing menstrual pads, we can help break cultural taboos and stigma surrounding menstruation, leading to more open and informed discussions.
Long-Term Impact: Educated girls are more likely to make informed decisions about their lives, including family planning, leading to healthier families and communities in the long run.

It wasn't all rosey considering the financial constraint, where we make budgets but cancelled by reducing the numbers we want, instead of cancelling the entire budget. We are open for collaboration and sponsorship.

Menstruation is not an option for the girl child as such we will keep educating and padding them . We were privileged to visit Government secondary school gumel, kachia local government area of kaduna state on 13th November, 2025 and we distributed free sanitary pads ( softcare) to 210 girls.

🌍 International Day of the Girl Child 2025

It was a rare privilege to celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child today with some of our community girls. The event provided a meaningful platform to discuss the importance of girl-child education and how empowering girls through learning can transform families, communities, and society at large.

We also reflected on this year’s theme — “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls at the Frontline of Crisis.” The discussion encouraged the students to recognize their potential as leaders, innovators, and change makers, even in the face of challenges, never believe that they can't be who ever they want to be.

It was truly inspiring to see young girls express confidence, hope, and a strong determination to pursue their dreams. We remain committed to supporting the girl child in our own little way.
