At Ungwan Rimi Market, Kaduna, we brought our Medication Safety Project right to the people, educating buyers and sellers on why medicines must be used safely and why advice should only be sought from qualified healthcare professionals.

From counterfeit drugs sold in open stalls, to sharing medications without prescriptions, to using herbal mixtures without knowing their risks—these everyday practices in our markets can be harmful. Our message is simple: medicines save lives, but only when used right.

We also took the opportunity to introduce the public to Pharmacology (the science of medicines: how they work in the body, how they treat diseases, and why taking the right dose from the right source matters for everyone’s health).

Markets feed us, clothe us, and keep life moving. But they shouldn’t be where we gamble with our health. Let’s and build safer, healthier communities together.

As part of our Medication Safety Project, we had an impactful session bringing together community members to learn, share, and ask questions about the safe use of medicines.
Through interactive discussions, our team highlighted the importance of:
✔️ Proper storage of medications
✔️ Avoiding self-medication and drug misuse
✔️ Reading labels and following prescriptions carefully
✔️ Consulting qualified health professionals when in doubt

We’re excited about the knowledge shared and the active participation of everyone who attended.

Here are some picture excerpts from the seminar — a big thank you to all participants, facilitators, and volunteers who made this a success!
