ASK FOR AND ACCEPT HELP

Many times people have no idea of what would truly be helpful to you. They may bring food, when what you really need is a babysitter or a mechanic. They may think you are doing fine and don't need help -when actually you do.

It is important to be assertive in this situation. People want to help, so do not deny them this opportunity, which can be a blessing for both of you!

SELF-ABUSE
Self-abuse simply refers to any harmful behaviour directed towards oneself. Be it physical, emotional or psychological. It could be in the form of self harm, substance abuse, neglecting ones physical and emotional needs, engaging in toxic relationships, having negative thoughts about oneself and self sabotage.

Coping with self-abuse requires a compassionate and non-judgmental approach. Here are some strategies to help you heal and move forward:

1. Seek professional help: Consult a therapist, counselor, or psychologist who specializes in trauma and self-abuse. They'll help you identify underlying causes and develop coping strategies.

2. Practice self-compassion: Treat yourself with kindness, understanding, and patience. Acknowledge your strengths and accomplishments.

3. Mindfulness and self-care: Engage in activities that bring you joy and relaxation, such as meditation, yoga, or creative pursuits.

4. Support groups: Join a support group or online community to connect with others who have experienced similar struggles.

5. Identify triggers: Be aware of situations or emotions that may lead to self-abuse and develop strategies to manage them.

6. Positive affirmations: Replace negative self-talk with positive affirmations, focusing on your worth and value.

7. Boundary setting: Establish healthy boundaries with others to protect your physical and emotional well-being.

8. Self-forgiveness: Work towards forgiving yourself and letting go of guilt and shame.

9. Creative expression: Use creative outlets like writing, art, or music to express your emotions and process your experiences.

10. Celebrate milestones: Acknowledge and celebrate your progress, no matter how small.

Remember, healing from self-abuse is a journey that requires patience, understanding, and support. Be gentle with yourself and seek help when needed.

Kindly share this with someone who will share it with someone else.

Don't let anyone pressure you unnecessarily. Don't be influenced by your friends' financial or social status to do things that are inappropriate. Determine what is right for you and what you can manage.
