World Water day was recently marked worldwide with official Reports indicating that a whooping 2.1 billion people still lack safely managed drinking water.

The call to action needs to be stronger, more intentional and action driven to ensure that everyone has access to clean and safe water.

For us at JosbSDGs4Us It starts with awareness and understanding the importance of Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6) amongst students and translating that awareness into active participation and opportunities in water management.

Because access to safe water should never be a privilege, but a basic right.

SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (SDG 16) with the students of GSS, West of Mines. ⁣

At first, many of the students placed the blame for everything wrong with Nigeria squarely on the systems of government. ⁣

But as the conversation progressed, we guided them to a deeper realisation: 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐮𝐧 𝐛𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐬, 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦𝐬 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫𝐬.⁣

In many ways, they are simply them, years from now.⁣

We emphasised that achieving SDG 16 is only possible when each of us plays our part — advocating and acting in the interest of peace and social justice, regardless of our differences or biases.⁣

𝖨𝗍 𝖻𝖾𝗀𝗂𝗇𝗌 𝗐𝗂𝗍𝗁 𝗍𝗁𝖾 𝗌𝗆𝖺𝗅𝗅 𝖼𝗁𝗈𝗂𝖼𝖾𝗌:⁣
speaking up when something is wrong,⁣
refusing to engage in malpractice,⁣
and choosing to respect rules that often seem easy to fluant.⁣

Because when they eventually become judges, politicians, law enforcers, and lawmakers, that sense of justice must already be rooted within them. ⁣

That is how the foundations for strong institutions that uphold justice and promote peace are built.⁣

𝖶𝖾 𝖾𝗇𝖽𝖾𝖽 𝗍𝗁𝖾 𝗌𝖾𝗌𝗌𝗂𝗈𝗇 𝖻𝗒 𝖺𝗌𝗄𝗂𝗇𝗀 𝗍𝗁𝖾 𝗊𝗎𝖾𝗌𝗍𝗂𝗈𝗇: 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐮𝐩 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐬. 𝘐𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺, 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳, 𝘰𝘳 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘦?⁣

From awareness to engagement, questions, and thoughtful discussions, our conversation with the senior students of GSS Angwan Rogo was truly insightful.⁣

The session highlighted the importance of Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6) and its connection to Good Health and Well-Being (SDG 3), and how both play critical roles in ensuring students can get the very best from their education (SDG4).⁣

The session reminded us that when students understand the issues that shape their lives and communities, learning becomes more than just classroom activity, it becomes a pathway to building a healthier and more sustainable future for themselves. ⁣

When girls learn about the SDGs, they grow up into women who are ready to protect the planet, fight inequality, and lead change.⁣

Today, we celebrate the girls who will build tomorrow. ⁣

Education is the foundation of sustainability.

When young people understand the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) early, they not only become aware of global challenges but also see how their actions can contribute to solutions.

Awareness transforms into responsibility, and responsibility into action.

This week’s conversation with the students of GSS Angwan Rogo was truly exciting.

We talked about things that don’t always make it into textbooks — hygiene, climate responsibility, waste culture, civic behaviour, and what it truly means to protect shared spaces and become advocates of systems that work, even at a young age.

For us, it always starts with one simple question:
“𝐈𝐟 𝐰𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐰, 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥?”

And the more we engage these young minds, the clearer the answer becomes.

Today’s Jos SDGs4Us Train-the-Trainer session with Chinenye Nwanolue was all about impact, clarity, and purpose.

Our volunteer facilitators were trained on how to localise the SDGs, connect them to education and career pathways, and deliver sessions that truly resonate with students in Jos North.

Today, we trained the trainers.
Tomorrow, they inspire students

We had an amazing and deeply insightful session tonight with Mr. Okey Davids, founder of the ICHAD Project and our facilitator for the Career Guidance and Mentorship Track under the Jos SDGs4US Initiative.⁣
