This Child, weโ€™re excited to share that Girls Education Mission International has been selected as a Girls Opportunity Alliance Featured Organization, receiving funding and organizational support from the Girls Opportunity Alliance, a program of the Obama Foundation.

For 15 years, GEM has worked alongside girls, families, educators and communities to address the barriers that keep girls out of school and prevent them from reaching their potential.

Through our work, including ๐“๐ก๐ž ๐†๐ข๐ซ๐ฅ ๐„๐ช๐ฎ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง: ๐Š๐ž๐ž๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐†๐ข๐ซ๐ฅ๐ฌ ๐ข๐ง ๐‚๐ฅ๐š๐ฌ๐ฌ, we are strengthening the support around girls so they can stay in school, complete their education and have greater opportunities to shape their futures.

This support will help us continue that work and reach more girls with the opportunities, guidance and support they deserve.

We believe every girl has the potential to shape her own future. What she needs is the opportunity, support and space to do so.

A girlโ€™s childhood should not come with a deadline.

Every girl deserves the time to grow, learn, discover who she is and imagine the future she wants for herself.

Yet, for many girls, childhood is cut short by decisions made on their behalf. Their education is interrupted, their choices narrowed, and their futures shaped before they have had the chance to explore what is possible.

This , we stand for a world where girlsโ€™ rights are protected, child marriage is ended, and every girl has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.

At Girls Education Mission International, we believe investing in girls means more than keeping them in school. It means protecting their childhood, respecting their voices, and ensuring their futures are not decided for them.

Sometimes, the work is knowing when to listen.

Throwing it back to our ๐‚๐ก๐š๐ง๐ ๐ž ๐๐ž๐ญ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐คโ€”a space that brought teachers, parents, girls, boys, community and religious leaders, and government together around one question:

๐–๐ก๐š๐ญ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ข๐ญ ๐š๐œ๐ญ๐ฎ๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ญ๐š๐ค๐ž ๐ญ๐จ ๐ค๐ž๐ž๐ฉ ๐ ๐ข๐ซ๐ฅ๐ฌ ๐ข๐ง ๐ฌ๐œ๐ก๐จ๐จ๐ฅ?

One thing the experience kept reminding us was that good solutions donโ€™t come from one voice.

You have to listen.

Listen to the girls.
Listen to teachers.
Listen to parents.
Listen to communities.
Listen to the people closest to the problem.

Because they often know things that a programme design on paper cannot tell you.

At Girls Education Mission International, this is part of how we approach change. We don't just arrive with answers. We create spaces to listen, learn, question, test and adapt.

She had already started imagining what it would feel like to leave school.

Not because she wanted to.

Not because she had stopped dreaming.

But because sometimes, when a family is struggling, a girlโ€™s education can become the thing that has to wait.

She sits in class, but she is thinking about what happens when the fees are due.

Will she return next term?

Will she have to stay home?

Will she watch her friends continue while she falls behind?

Then someone steps in.

And suddenly, the story doesn't have to end there.

She stays in school.

She keeps learning.

She keeps dreaming.

And with time, that girl begins to see possibilities beyond the circumstances that once threatened to stop her.

This is why matters.

Because giving isn't always about solving everything at once.

Sometimes, it is about helping create one more opportunity for a girl to keep going.

And when many people give, those opportunities become something bigger.

For 15 years, Girls Education Mission International has walked alongside girls through moments like these. As we look toward the next 15, we want to make sure more girls have the chance to stay, learn, grow and build the futures they imagine.

Behind the girl who stays in school is often a teacher who noticed when she was struggling.

A teacher who encouraged her to keep trying.

A teacher who made the classroom feel like a place where she belonged.

And sometimes, a teacher who simply refused to give up on her.

As we mark World Teachersโ€™ Day, weโ€™re reminded that investing in girls also means investing in the people who teach, guide and support them every day.

Because when we strengthen teachers, we strengthen classrooms.

And when we strengthen classrooms, we create better chances for girls to learn, grow and thrive.

Today, we celebrate the teachers doing this work, often quietly, consistently and with more impact than they may ever realise.

Sometimes, the most important part of the work is what happens after the activity.

The training ends.
The meeting closes.
The programme report is submitted.

But then comes the real question:

What changed?

Did a teacher do something differently?
Did a girl gain something she can carry forward?
Did a system become a little stronger?
Did a door that was once difficult to open become easier for someone else?

At Girls Education Mission International, weโ€™re learning to look beyond what we do and pay closer attention to what it makes possible.

Because impact isn't just about what happens on the day.

Itโ€™s about what continues to happen afterwards.
