Love perspectives: Highlights from the SOV Jos Colours of Love 2026
To the glory of God, the atmosphere at Tee-el-tee, opposite NTA Jos, was charged with wisdom and spiritual insight as SOV Jos hosted the 2026 edition of her Colours of Love.
The event featured a deeply revealing panel discussion aimed at equipping believers, singles, and married individuals with a sound and biblical perspective on relationships.
The panel, moderated by Dr. Ben Joshua, featured Mrs. Anvou Dalyop and Miss Sandra Ruko Musa, who shared transformative truths on Christian relationships with a specific focus on courtship and marriage.
The discussion opened by defining love not merely as a feeling, but as a selfless commitment to the well-being of another individual.
The panelists emphasized that in the context of courtship and marriage, love is a daily decision to prioritize one's partner.
While physical or intellectual attraction is a necessary starting point, the speakers noted that true love must transcend the physical to focus on the character of the person, and God at the centre of it all.
A key highlight was the distinction between infatuation and Godly love.
The panel noted that while infatuation is temporary and rooted in material things, true love is enduring and centered on non-physical attributes.
For a marriage to succeed, the "doing" love, Agape and Phileo, is essential, as feelings alone are insufficient to sustain a lifelong union.
The panelist issued a powerful reminder that
"anything not nurtured can die".
They encouraged couples to keep love alive despite the pressures of ministry, jobs, profession or raising children by prioritizing communication, commitment, growth, and selfless service.
Addressing the practicalities of modern dating, the panel urged honesty regarding "red flags".
Issues such as lies or manipulation are serious reasons to reconsider a courtship altogether.
Furthermore, the discussion took a firm stand on covenant fidelity, asserting that for a "born again child of God," the mindset of polygamy is replaced by a desire to please God rather than self.
The overarching message was clear.
The marriage bed must be kept undefiled.
This edition of Colours of Love was a landmark event for SOV Jos, providing a platform for truth that challenges worldly narratives and points believers back to the heart of Christ.
