The HIV/AIDS organizations, and our organization have contributed to the war against HIV/AIDS in Nigeria since the past year 2000 as follows: We have
a. Conducted seminars for the main teachers in the school who could implement such a program. Developed manuals and other material to help support this campaign. Helped to create and/or use songs and drama related to this war. Created pledges and hel
ped to create and implement anti-AIDS clubs. Brought in and developed the faith-based component which provided higher motivation for sexual abstinence. Worked with the Federal Ministry of Education HIV/AIDS unit for coordinating all of these issues. i. We have worked with state agencies and other HIV/AIDS organizations to promote common goals. j. Worked with the National Coalition of Colleges of Education to develop programmes related to HIV/AIDS for the colleges of education. k. Worked with NYSC to train Corp Members as Peer Educators to do HIV/AIDS work during service
l. Partnered with UNICEF and other NGOs in implementing the anti-HIV/AIDS campaign. m. We have worked with private agencies like various churches and the YMCA. n. Cooperated with Muslims to help develop and implement the inter-faith HIV/AIDs campaign. And that had a spill-over effect in promoting peace. o. Worked with the National Teacher’s Institute (NTI) to do national training of Secondary school teachers on Morality and HIV/AIDS. p. We developed training videos for “Train the Trainer” programs. q. We have raised money internationally for HIV/AIDS work in Nigeria.
