Children are the heart of every nation’s future. Their dreams, laughter, creativity, and potential flourish best in an environment where peace exists.

When there is peace, children can go to school without fear, play freely, sleep safely, and grow into the leaders, builders, and changemakers the world needs. But where conflict and violence persist, childhood is often interrupted by fear, displacement, and uncertainty.

This Children’s Day, let us remember that building peace is not only for today, it is an investment in the future of every child. A peaceful society gives children hope, protection, opportunity, and the freedom to become all they were created to be.

Every child deserves a future shaped by love, unity, safety, and peace. 🕊️✨

Leah Sharibu: Forgotten in the wilderness?

Besides, the grieving family of Leah has also renewed their appeal to the authorities in Nigeria on their missing daughter. Eight years after her abduction in Dapchi, Leah’s parents have renewed calls for urgent government action to secure her release.

The parents have lamented that Leah has endured forced marriage, multiple childbirths and continued suffering in captivity

Peace advocate Gideon Para-Mallam also urged the Nigerian government to intensify efforts to rescue Leah and other abducted girls, stressing the need for stronger action against ongoing killings and kidnappings across the country.

The Foundation called on global leaders, human rights organizations and faith communities to amplify advocacy efforts and hold relevant authorities accountable until Leah is reunited with her family. After eight years, the family said, Leah’s resilience should be met with concrete action to secure her freedom.

In a world where anger is often louder than understanding, choosing peace requires courage, patience, and intentionality. True strength is not found in violence, division, or the need to dominate others — it is found in the ability to listen, to empathize, and to pursue unity even in difficult moments.

Peacebuilders are not passive people; they are courageous individuals who refuse to let hate define the future. Every conversation rooted in respect, every act of compassion, and every effort toward reconciliation becomes a step toward healing communities and transforming lives.

Peace is strength guided by wisdom, humanity, and hope.

Building a strong community always demands patience, sacrifice, and commitment.

When tension, misinformation, and division begins to grow, the foundation of any community cut in its web could easily and quickly shaken.

That is where the Para-Mallam Peace Foundation steps in.

LEAH SHARIBU @23
JOIN US TO PRAY FOR LEAH

Dear Friend and Partner,

“When the world forgets the captive, heaven still hears their name. Every prayer lifted for Leah is a refusal to surrender hope, justice, and the dignity of human life.”

At just 14 years old, Leah Sharibu was abducted alongside other schoolgirls in Dapchi, Nigeria. Eight years later, she remains in captivity.

On the 14th of May 2026, Leah turns 23.
While many have moved on, we refuse to forget. We refuse to be silent. We believe prayer still matters, justice still matters, and Leah’s life still matters.

The Gideon and Funmi Para-Mallam Peace Foundation invites you to join believers, peace advocates, and concerned people from around the world for a special virtual prayer gathering in honour of Leah Sharibu and in continued hope for her release.

This will be a moment of intercession, reflection, solidarity, and renewed commitment to stand for truth, peace, freedom, and human dignity.

New week, new opportunity to choose peace.

At the Gideon & Funmi Para-Mallam Peace Foundation, we believe peace begins in our communities through everyday conversations, community and individual interactions, understanding, and intentional actions.

Research shows that when people feel truly heard and understood, tension decreases and trust begins to grow. Active listening helps people express their emotions openly, while empathy allows us to see things from another person’s perspective turning misunderstanding into understanding.

In many cases, conflict is not about hatred, but about feeling unheard. When we listen with intention and respond with empathy, we create space for peace to grow. 🕊️

Let’s choose to listen, understand, and build peace starting today.

On 29th March 2026, what should have been a normal day, meant for peace, reflection, and worship, turned into one of pain and mourning.

33 lives were lost. In deadly Palm Sunday attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North.

But in the midst of this time of pain and loss, in partnership with Help The Persecuted (HTP), on 13th April, we visited the victims and survivors. We sat with them, prayed with them, listened to their stories, and stood with them in these moments—offering comfort, support, and material relief.

We reminded them that they are not alone. Survivors shared their stories and called on their government to reinforce security in the area. A member of the delegation urged the youth to collaborate in identifying and exposing the perpetrators.

The Revd Dr. Gideon Para-Mallam encouraged them to remain peaceful and not retaliate in anger. He also called on leaders to carry the youth along in decision-making and response efforts.

“We need to find a common understanding. We want to assure you that we are doing our best in reducing and de-escalating the tension that we are all confronted with. We will continue to do our best.”

“Let’s continue to work to make sure this crisis does not continue. By the grace of God, we will do our best. All of us, with honesty and sincerity, this crisis will not continue . . . our focus is not just Plateau State — our focus is Nigeria.” — The Revd. Dr. Gideon Para-Mallam (Social Justice and Peace Advocate)

Following the deadly Palm Sunday attack on 29th March 2026 in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North, which claimed over 33 lives, on April 21st at Jos Central Mosque we launched a community-led peace initiative to restore calm and rebuild trust in the community. The effort is bringing together affected communities through dialogue, trauma healing for all and joint peace committees to help prevent further violence.

Leading the effort, our President and Chief Executive Officer of the Peace Foundation, Revd Dr. Gideon Para-Mallam and his wife Prof Funmi Para-Mallam, emphasized that the initiative focuses on rebuilding trust, strengthening early warning systems, and promoting dialogue.

Survivors and families of victims shared deeply emotional stories, with many choosing reconciliation over retaliation and committing to peaceful coexistence. As calm slowly returns, the message is clear: unity, compassion, and collective responsibility are essential to breaking the cycle of violence.

We are calling for collective responsibility in ending the crisis—from government, security agencies, and all stakeholders. Peaceful coexistence between communities and individuals is possible. This must not happen again.
