🐾 Whispers from the Wild 🐒🌿"

🌿🐒 This young chimp reminds us of the incredible wildlife that shares our forests and landscapes in Nigeria. Sadly, chimpanzees and many other species face threats from habitat loss, hunting, and human activities. Conserving them means protecting the balance of nature, safeguarding our forests, and securing a healthier future for all. 💚

Let’s work together for the survival of chimpanzees, vultures, parrots, and every species that makes Nigeria rich in biodiversity. 🌍✨

Protecting the Neglected Creatures
🐜🌱🦋

When we talk about wildlife, we often think of elephants, lions, or colorful birds. But beneath the surface live countless smaller creatures, insects, amphibians, reptiles, and worms, quietly keeping our ecosystems alive. They pollinate our crops, enrich the soil, and form the foundation of the food chain. Yet many of them go extinct without us even noticing.

It’s time we give them the attention they deserve. Protecting these tiny beings means protecting ourselves and the balance of nature.

We're now in Delta State: From Akwa Ibom State to Delta State; a great experience using storytelling in dispelling inimical beliefs against vultures and in listening to the stories of vultures by the locals in their communities, from past years to recent times. We used that to understand where vultures were sighted by them, enabling us to collaborate with them and search deep to ascertain the species' locations....

I'm happy to share with you that Our vulture research in Nigeria and West Africa has been featured by Mongabay, a renowned global environmental news platform known for its independent, in-depth reporting on conservation and environmental challenges.

Our latest research, observations and communication on the dramatic decline of hooded vultures in Nigeria and West Africa is featured in this insightful report by Mongabay. The modernization of abattoir practices, coupled with other anthropogenic pressures, poses a significant threat to these ecologically important birds. I commend Ryan Truscott of Mongabay for his professional and thorough approach in covering this complex issue and for his ongoing contribution to nature conservation in Africa and around the world. You can read the full report here: https://news.mongabay.com/2025/04/in-west-africa-hooded-vultures-vanish-as-abattoirs-modernize/

Critically endangered hooded vultures in Nigeria that once fed on the carcasses of wild animals are now largely dependent on scraps discarded by people. But changes in the way waste is disposed of at slaughterhouses has left them desperately short of food, researchers say. In the 1970s, hooded vultu...

Researching and identifying the threats to wildlife and their population decline is important, but as conservationists, our work goes beyond findings. We must take actionable steps to solve these problems. That’s exactly what we’ve been doing with the support of Rufford Foundation, Biota Conservation Hub Foundation , Pan African Conservation Education (PACE), VulPro (South Africa), and the A.P. Leventis Ornithological Research Institute (APLORI)....

At Biota Conservation Hub Foundation, we remain committed to promoting awareness about the important contributions of nature and wildlife to our lives. Recently, we had the privilege of visiting the College of Nursing and Midwifery, Jos Campus, to engage with the health community about the indispensable role vultures play in maintaining public and environmental health. Vultures are often misunderstood creatures, but their importance cannot be overstated....

I was searching for vultures, and I came across a beautiful group of Piacpiacs (Ptilostomus afer). I met them at a foraging site near a poultry waste dump in Barkin-Ladi, plateau state. I like the many eyes' syndrome, of this colony in the vigilance against suspected predators.

Biodiversity and Nature conservation

A registered non-governmental organisation (NGO) focused on Safeguarding nature and biodiversity. We conserve habitats, protect plants and animals (wildlife), sensitise communities, work towards implementing laws that protect critically endangered species of organisms, endangered species, endemic and indigenous species. We collaborate with different agencies, communities and constituted authorities to promote conservation of nature. We are servants for a better nature and a better world for human and biodiversity.
