API CONDEMNS KILLINGS IN ANGWAN RUKUBA, CALLS FOR PEACE AND JUSTICE

Africare Peace Initiative (API) strongly condemns the tragic killings in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of innocent lives and stand in solidarity with the victims, their families, and all communities affected by this painful act of violence.

This tragedy is yet another reminder of the urgent need for justice, civilian protection, and sustainable peacebuilding in Plateau State.

At API, we believe that every life lost to violence is a call for action. We therefore urge security agencies to:

- Ensure swift and transparent justice.
- Leaders and communities to reject retaliation, hate, and further violence,
- All stakeholders to work together toward peace, dialogue, and prevention.

Plateau State cannot continue on this path of repeated bloodshed. The people deserve to live in peace and safety.

Enough of the killings!

We had an impactful time commemorating International Women’s Day with market women, on March 25, 2026, through a joint outreach led by , in partnership with , , , , and .

The outreach took place at Better Life Market in Makoko, Lagos State, under the theme “Give to Gain,” with a focus on “Empowering Women, Empowering Health.”

The women received free blood pressure checks, health education from certified nurses and pharmacists, hygiene kits, and referrals for further medical care where necessary.

Community stakeholders, including the Iyaloja, youth leaders, and other local stakeholders were actively involved, giving their full support towards the success of the event.

A total of 55 women, between the ages of 18 and 65, participated and received much-needed medical attention.

Some of the women expressed heartfelt gratitude, as the program opened their eyes to health challenges they had been living with unknowingly. The level of engagement and excitement from the women was truly encouraging.

There will be a follow-up to this initiative to ensure sustained support and continued care for the women reached.

This initiative was fully funded by the partner organizations, as we came together with shared commitment to improving women’s health at the grassroots level.

You can be part of this impact by partnering with us. Also support our initiatives by sharing our work so we can reach more women and build healthier communities in Lagos State and beyond.
