Strengthening Community Bonds Across Irigwe Clans in Jos North

On Sunday, 15th March 2025, the Irigwe Jos North Community Leader, Chief Dauda Auta Kpede, continued his community engagement visits with a stop at the Eri Mmeh meeting at Rukuba Road, before proceeding to the Zodu Clan meeting in Jenta Mangoro.

During these engagements, Chief Kpede reiterated his commitment to inclusive leadership and sought the cooperation and support of all Irigwe people as he carries forward his responsibility as the community leader. He emphasized the importance of unity, collective progress, and active participation in community development.

He encouraged families to prioritize the education and empowerment of their children, either through formal schooling or skills acquisition. He also advised parents and guardians to remain vigilant and avoid entrusting their children to unfamiliar individuals under the guise of external opportunities.

At the Zodu Clan gathering, he joined members in celebrating their end-of-year activities, which included a mini launch of branded T-shirts and face caps, reflecting the clan’s unity and cultural pride.

Chief Kpede also highlighted the importance of civic responsibility, urging community members to register for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and actively participate in the democratic process by joining political parties of their choice.

In conclusion, he called on all Irigwe sons and daughters to remain united, proactive, and committed to building a stronger, safer, and more prosperous community for present and future generations.

On Sunday, 8th March 2026, the Irigwe Jos North Community Leader, Chief Dauda Auta Kpede, paid a courtesy visit to the Zobwo and Tenvie clan meetings in Jos North.

The visit was aimed at strengthening unity among the Irigwe people in Jos North by identifying the various clans present, while seeking their cooperation, wise counsel, and prayers as he begins his responsibility as community leader following the demise of the former leader, Late Chief Richard Di Kpenti Wundu.

During the meetings, Chief Kpede also emphasized their importance of vigilance within our communities, especially by parents and guardians. He cautioned against individuals who may appear as caregivers or representatives of orphanage homes offering opportunities for schooling or jobs for children outside the state. Such offers should be carefully verified, as some children across different communities have unfortunately been exploited through child labour, trafficking, or other forms of abuse.

He encouraged the community to uphold the long-standing Irigwe tradition of caring for our own. According to him, even when resources are limited, families and community members should do their best to support vulnerable children whether through education, skills acquisition, trades, or apprenticeship opportunities.

Chief Kpede also called on Irigwe sons and daughters living in Jos to open their hearts and homes to help train and mentor less privileged children, orphans, and victims of attacks, while also supporting widows and families going through hardship wherever possible.

In closing, he reminded everyone of the enduring Irigwe spirit of “Zunzru” (Oneness) a value that calls for unity, compassion, and collective responsibility for the wellbeing of our people.

When we stand together, support one another, and remain vigilant as a community, we become stronger and more resilient. Let us continue to preserve our values, protect our children, and build a future where every Irigwe child has the opportunity to thrive
