DECLARATION OF INTEREST
“The function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers.” — Ralph Nader
Leadership requires courage—the courage to stand for what is right, the courage to speak when others remain silent, and above all, the courage to step forward and serve when the people need purposeful leadership.
It is in this spirit of courage, service, and responsibility that I, Raphael Kwaria John, humbly declare my interest to contest for the position of Secretary General of the Irigwe Youth Movement (IYM).
My decision is not motivated by the desire for a title, but by the conviction that leadership is an opportunity to serve, unite, empower, and create opportunities for others. I am offering myself because I believe our youths deserve a leadership structure that listens to their voices, communicates effectively, promotes inclusiveness, and works tirelessly for their collective advancement.
MY VISION
My vision is to build a Secretariat that is accessible, transparent, responsive, and effective—a Secretariat where every Irigwe youth is valued, informed, represented, and given the opportunity to contribute to the development of our people.
Under the banner of SMART INK, I stand for:
S — Service: Putting the interests of Irigwe youths above personal interests.
M — Meaningful Leadership: Providing leadership that produces tangible results.
A — Accountability: Being responsible and transparent to the people.
R — Responsiveness: Listening and responding to the needs and concerns of our youths.
T — Transparency: Promoting openness in communication and administration.
INK — Knowledge, Ideas and Communication: Using information, creativity, and effective communication to connect and empower our people.
If elected, I will prioritize effective communication, equal access to opportunities, youth empowerment, unity, accountability, proper documentation, and constructive engagement with relevant stakeholders.
I understand that the position of Secretary General is not merely an administrative office. It is a position that requires commitment, courage, competence, patience, and the willingness to serve everyone without discrimination.
Therefore, I have chosen to step forward—not because the journey will be easy, but because our collective progress is worth the courage to serve.
I respectfully seek the support, trust, and mandate of the good people of the Irigwe Youth Movement.
Together, let us write a new chapter of courageous, smart, transparent, and purposeful youth leadership.
Aspirant, Secretary General — Irigwe Youth Movement (IYM)
