Meet our host, Mrs. Lami T. Gidado, president of the Association of Play Therapy Nigeria (APTN).

Mrs. Lami T. Gidado is the Founder and President of the Association of Play Therapy Nigeria (APTN) and has been a passionate advocate for the growth of play therapy across Nigeria and beyond. Through her leadership, training, and unwavering commitment to children's mental health, she has helped introduce and expand access to play therapy for professionals working with children, families, schools, and communities.

The Association of Play Therapy Nigeria was established with a vision to promote excellence in play therapy practice, training, advocacy, and research across Nigeria. Over the years, APTN has grown into a vibrant professional community committed to raising competent play therapists, increasing awareness of the therapeutic power of play, and ensuring that more children and families across Africa have access to developmentally appropriate mental health care.

As we gather for IPTC 2026, we celebrate not only an international conference, but also the continued growth of a movement dedicated to healing children through play.

Mrs. Akiniyi is a passionate advocate for children, families, and early childhood wellbeing, with years of experience supporting children through education, caregiving, and mental health initiatives. Her work in Infant Mental Health focuses on helping parents, caregivers, and professionals better understand the emotional needs of young children and the importance of secure, nurturing relationships in early development.
