CAN President Commends Ta'awunu Security, Pledges Full Cooperation in Iwo

Prince Adejobi Adekunle, the Iwo Chapter President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has commended Ta'awunu Security for carrying out its duties without religious bias and for its commitment to the safety of all residents in the community.

He made this known today, Sunday, May 24, 2026 during a security patrol across Iwo town organized to calm residents following rumours and fears surrounding alleged bandit activities in the area.

The Ta'awunu Security team, under the leadership of the Shaykh Daahood Himran MoLaasan, The Grand M***i Of Yoruba Land, DeLta & Edo State, moved around different parts of the town and also paid a courtesy visit to the CAN President and the association’s secretary. During the visit, the team emphasized that their mission is to support security agencies in protecting lives and properties irrespective of religion, tribe, or social status.

Speaking during the visit, the CAN secretary appreciated the efforts and courage of Taawun Security, noting that Christians in the community highly value their dedication and selfless service. He prayed that God would reward them abundantly for their sacrifices toward ensuring peace and security in Iwo land.

As a show of appreciation and solidarity, CAN presented a token of support to the security team and pledged its full cooperation with Taawun Security in promoting peace and safety within the community.

Muslim Scholars Celebrate New Educational Milestone in Iwo

The Muslim community in Iwo witnessed another significant achievement with the commissioning of Al-Marwah International Academy located at Elewonta Village, Iwo, Osun State.

The institution was established by Dr Abdul Akeem Bashar as part of efforts to promote quality education and strengthen Islamic learning in the region. The event attracted prominent Islamic scholars, community leaders, and well-wishers from within and outside Iwoland.

Delivering the keynote address at the commissioning ceremony, Khalifa Sheikh Abdu Baaqi, Sheikh Muslim Muqadam Hussein, emphasized the importance of combining sound Islamic teachings with modern education in raising responsible and morally upright generations.

Among the dignitaries present at the event were the Chief Imam of Iwoland, Dr Abdul Muhmin Muh. Thanni, Sheikh Idrees Fasaasi Al-Mogaji, Dr Qosim Muh. Tijani, alongside several other notable Islamic clerics and scholars.

Sheikh Daood Imran Molaasan, the Grand M***i of Yorubaland, while speaking after the event, offered prayers for the success of the new institution and called for more Islamic developmental projects across Yorubaland and Nigeria at large. He prayed for Allah’s blessings upon the founders, supporters, and the entire Muslim community.

The commissioning of the academy further highlights the long standing reputation of Iwo as a notable center of Islamic education and scholarship in southwestern Nigeria.

Daahood Himran MoLaasan, The Grand M***i Of Yoruba Land, DeLta & Edo State Inaugurates Task Force for School Security

Following the recent abduction of teachers and students of Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oyo State, Sheikh Daood Imran Molaasan, the Grand M***i of Yorubaland, has inaugurated a security task force aimed at ensuring the safety of students across Iwoland.

While condemning the inhuman act, the Sheikh noted that mere talks alone cannot solve the growing insecurity challenges facing the country. He therefore swung into action to support government efforts in protecting lives and securing schools.

According to the Grand M***i, the initiative will also be extended to other areas within his capacity in Osun and Oyo state in order to assist the government in strengthening security and ensuring the safety of students.

Al-Jayshu Islam, as the group is popularly known, has continued to serve voluntarily since its establishment. Over the years, the organisation has supported security agencies in maintaining peace and safeguarding communities.

Grand M***i Calls for Yoruba Muslim Security Summit To Tackle Insecurity.

The Grand M***i of Yorubaland, Sheikh Daood Imran Molaasan, has called on Muslims across the Yoruba region to unite and convene a security summit aimed at addressing the growing insecurity challenges in Yoruba land and Nigeria as a whole.

Sheikh made the call while speaking on the need for religious bodies and community leaders to complement government efforts in protecting lives and property amid increasing concerns over kidnapping, banditry, and other security threats in different parts of the country.

He said security should not be left in the hands of government alone, stressing that communities, religious organisations, and individuals all have important roles to play in ensuring peace and stability within society.

He explained that the proposed summit would bring together Muslim leaders, scholars, security experts, youth groups, and other stakeholders from across Yorubaland to deliberate on practical solutions and strategies for safeguarding communities.

Sheikh noted that the summit would focus on intelligence sharing, community vigilance, youth engagement, moral reorientation, and collaboration with security agencies in order to strengthen safety measures across the region.

He also stated that the initiative is not politically motivated but rather a collective effort to support governments in the South West and Nigeria at large in tackling insecurity and promoting peaceful coexistence among citizens.

While expressing concern over recent security incidents in parts of the Yorubaland, the Grand M***i urged Nigerians not to remain silent in the face of insecurity, emphasizing that proactive measures and community participation are necessary to prevent further threats.

He further appealed to Muslim organisations and well meaning individuals to support the proposed summit and contribute positively toward the protection of lives, schools, and communities.
