IDA 2026 ELECTION: IPERU COMMUNITY WITNESSES A NEW CHAPTER OF DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP

The Iperu Akesan Development Association (IDA) Election was successfully conducted on Saturday, 22nd August 2026, at the Akesan Iperu 1954 Hall, Iperu Remo, Ogun State, in the presence of many dignitaries, community leaders, elders, stakeholders, representatives of clubs and associations, aspirants, and delegates.
The election marked another significant milestone in the democratic history of Iperu, as members of the community came together to exercise their civic responsibility and elect a new leadership to steer the affairs of the Iperu Akesan Development Association.
The electoral process was conducted under the supervision of the IDA Electoral Committee, led by Alhaji Sh*ttu Babatunde Omisanya, which remained committed to ensuring a free, fair, credible, transparent, and peaceful election throughout the process.
A total of 115 delegates were accredited to participate in the election. The positions of President, General Secretary, Financial Secretary, Auditor, and Woman Representative were contested unopposed, while all makes the 2/3 of the total votes casted as declared in the electoral guideline.
The results of the other contested positions were as follows:
1. Assistant General Secretary:Odukoya Lukman 81, Akinyelu Saheed 28
2. Treasurer Adegbuyi Kessington 57, Adedayo Akinyemi 55
3. Public Relations Officer, Temitope Oladipupo 79, Akinlarin AbdulHakeem 35
4. Social Secretary, Adeboye Elepe 77, Ariyo Kazeem 37
5. Vice President Adekalu Stephen 57, Wale Abdul56
6. Welfare Officer Odumbo Adetokunbo 71, Kuti Kolawole Halleluyah 44
Following the conclusion of voting and the collation of results, the Electoral Committee officially announced all candidates that have successfully won the election.
The newly elected officers subsequently took their oaths of office and were presented with their respective Certificates of Return, formally signifying the conclusion of the electoral process and the commencement of their mandates to serve the people of Iperu.
The Electoral Committee expresses its profound appreciation to all stakeholders who contributed to the successful conduct of the election and the entire electoral process.
For past two months, the Committee undertook the enormous responsibility of organising, coordinating, and administering the electoral process. While the journey was demanding, the Committee remained steadfast in fulfilling its mandate and upholding the trust reposed in it by the community.
Special appreciation goes to all aspirants, clubs, associations, delegates, agents, community leaders, elders, youths, and well meaning sons and daughters of Iperu for their cooperation, patience, commitment, understanding, and confidence in the Committee from the commencement of the process through to the successful conclusion of the election.
The Electoral Committee believes that the conclusion of the election is not the end of the journey, but the beginning of a new chapter in the collective pursuit of sustainable community development.
In this regard, the Committee will make available its observations, references, and recommendations to the incoming leadership, with the objective of strengthening the Association and promoting sustainable development, accountability, inclusiveness, unity, and active participation by all sons and daughters of Iperu.
The Committee strongly believes that the progress of Iperu must remain a collective responsibility. Regardless of individual interests, political differences, or the outcome of the election, the common interest of the community must always take precedence.
We warmly congratulates all the newly elected officers and urges them to regard their victory not merely as an achievement, but as a call to service and a mandate entrusted to them by the people.
The Committee also appreciates all other contestants who participated in the election. Every aspirant demonstrated courage, commitment, and a genuine willingness to contribute to the development of Iperu.
We therefore encourage all contestants not to view the outcome of the election as a defeat. In community development, everyone is a winner when Iperu progresses.
We call on all aspirants, irrespective of the outcome, to join hands with the new leadership by contributing their ideas, experience, expertise, and resources towards building a stronger, more united, peaceful, and prosperous Iperu.
As we move forward, let us remember that we are all leaders, and the development of Iperu is a collective responsibility.
The Electoral Committee wishes the newly elected IDA leadership a successful and impactful tenure. We pray, may God grant all elected officers wisdom, strength, uncommon favour, good health, and the capacity to serve the people diligently, selflessly, transparently, and with the best interest of Iperu at heart.
