The above promo which I saw in the LCBO Food & Drink Holiday Magazine during my recent visit to Canada, made a lasting impression on me.
For futuristic political gladiators, the forthcoming November gubernatorial election in Imo State should be a done-deal for His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodimma.
His re-election is germane if Ndigbo were to make a bold comeback at the center-stage of Nigeria's complicated political landscape. In the first place, how did the tide turn so murky against the once vibrant and upwardly mobile ethnic group whose views on national issues were sought and respected?
What happened to the brand of effervescent politicians of Igbo extraction who quickly launched themselves back to political prominence, producing the Vice President in 1979, just nine short years after they were defeated in a civil war?
History beckons on the South East Geopolitical Zone to brave the storm and literally re-elect their HOPE back to the Nigerian political firmament.
The process begins with returning Governor Hope Uzodimma in November, 2023 for a second term. As the main political Heavyweight from the South East with the proverbial federal might, we must rally support around him to champion the Igbo Political Renaissance.
Looking at the big picture long term, let us take our destiny in our hands and rejig our strategy to political prominence in Nigeria. Though the situation may look gloomy at the moment, but with determination and unity of purpose, we will surely succeed.
Some of us may not understand the vision and power loaded in the erstwhile President Obama's campaign slogan, "The Audacity Of Hope". Our own Hope is not only pointedly audacious, but passionate about Igbo recovery.
