As part of our commitment to mark the World Breastfeeding Week 2026, we engaged mothers and caregivers at the Primary Health Centre, Upper Gaa-Akanbi, in Ilorin South LGA, Kwara State, with a sensitization session on the benefits of breastfeeding.

The session highlighted the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life, its role in strengthening infant immunity, promoting healthy growth, and deepening the mother-child bond. Health workers also used the opportunity to address common misconceptions and encourage continued support for breastfeeding mothers within the community.

Initiatives like this reaffirm our commitment to improving maternal and child health outcomes at the grassroots level.

On 5th August 2026, we took the message of breastfeeding to the heart of the artisan community at Ita-Olodan, Upper Gaa-Akanbi, Ilorin South LGA, Kwara State - marking World Breastfeeding Week 2026!

Artisans in the area were sensitized on the immense benefits of breastfeeding, including its role in boosting child immunity, strengthening the mother-child bond, and supporting healthy growth and development. The session also addressed common myths and barriers working mothers face, encouraging a more supportive environment for exclusive breastfeeding within our communities.

Together, we can build a healthier generation — one informed choice at a time.

💚 Start breastfeeding early and exclusively! Initiate within the first hour, exclusively breastfeed for 6 months, no water, food or other drinks needed except prescribed medicines.

It boosts immunity, supports brain development, and strengthens the mother-baby bond. Let's protect, support and invest in breastfeeding for a healthier generation.

Today, Vertex of Hope Initiative, in collaboration with TB, NEPWHAN, and ACOMIN networks, carried out an insightful GBV sensitization and outreach at Government Senior Secondary School Shao, Kwara State educating them on the dangers of Gender-Based Violence, the importance of speaking up, and creating a safer society for everyone.

Together, we are raising informed voices, promoting dignity, and building a generation that stands against violence and discrimination.
