Nigerian Red Cross Society Kwara Branch joined Muslim faithful across Kwara State to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir 2026. From ensuring emergency preparedness at the Eid Prayer Ground to reuniting a missing child with his joyful family, humanity remained at the heart of our service.
The Nigerian Red Cross Society joined Muslim faithful on Wednesday, 27th May 2026, to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, the festival of sacrifice, in an atmosphere filled with joy, spirituality, and peaceful coexistence.
Members and volunteers of the Branch were strategically positioned at the Eid Prayer Ground to provide emergency response services and ensure the safety of worshippers throughout the celebration. The team was led by the Branch Secretary, Babaomo Ayodeji, whose leadership and coordination ensured a smooth humanitarian presence during the event.
The 2026 Eid celebration witnessed a massive turnout of Muslim faithful who appeared in beautiful and colorful attires to mark the sacred occasion. The congregational prayers were graced by the presence of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Emir of Ilorin, Alh Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, alongside other notable political leaders and dignitaries from across the state. The gathering remained peaceful, orderly, and spiritually fulfilling.
In another remarkable humanitarian intervention after the congregational prayers, a 4-year-old boy identified as Abdulateef Soliu, who had gone missing, was found roaming helplessly around Unity Road. He was rescued by the Branch Communication Officer, Afolayan Taiye.
The child explained that he had attended the Eid Prayer Ground with his parents but unfortunately became separated from them amidst the large crowd. Demonstrating commitment to humanity and compassion, Afolayan Taiye carefully traced the location of the child’s family residence at Taiwo-Isale and successfully reunited him with his family.
The parents and siblings of the child, who had been deeply worried after searching tirelessly for him, expressed overwhelming joy and gratitude upon seeing him safe again. In excitement and relief, the family repeatedly proclaimed, “God is Great,” expressing happiness that they could now continue their Eid celebration and slaughter their ram in peace.
The Nigerian Red Cross Society Kwara Branch remains committed to its humanitarian mandate of alleviating human suffering, promoting safety, and bringing hope to vulnerable persons at all times.
