RESTORING NIGERIA: The fundamental source of poverty, insecurity, malnutrition, and diseases in Nigeria stems from the degradation of the nation’s natural surroundings and climate-related issues. During a recently concluded partnership agreement and the launch of the 2026 action plan for Nigeria's Ecological Restoration, the Founder of AfriEarth Foundation , Amb. Lawrence Abayomi Mayaki-Akinpelu, highlighted the necessity for teamwork to revive Nigeria. He pointed out that the issues are apparent, as evidenced by severe droughts, extreme heat, erratic weather patterns, inconsistent rainfall, loss of biodiversity, and numerous other contributing factors.

Amb. Mayaki-Akinpelu urged the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to declare a state of emergency regarding the environmental and climate crises in 2026, in order to prevent famine and severe poverty. He noted that 70% of Nigerians depend on natural resources for their livelihoods, including agriculture, fishing, livestock farming, and trading of agricultural products. The individuals most impacted by these challenges are primarily rural dwellers, women, and the impoverished. In this context, experts are appealing to the president to prioritize these issues, as addressing them will significantly benefit both our environment and the lives of over 70% of Nigerians.
